Hi,
I am new to KW research and after reading some tutorials I decided to give it a go myself for my new blog.
I used Google's KW Planner and I was amazed to see that there are some 'generic/very obvious' KWs available in 10k-100k range (even 100k+) with Low competition. I didn't believed that so I did a search for some of the KWs in TrafficTravis and it returned that one of the keyword is Extremely Low (7%) in Competition.

After confirming the results via TT I tried to find websites currently on first page via Long Tail Pro and I feel stupid to see that giants like WikiPedia, YouTube, 'Govt' sites etc are on first page with hundred of thousands of backlinks. There's no way I can beat them.

I want to know whether Google KW Planner, Traffic Travis and/or Long Tail Pro still works and if they still works why they did stupid thing like that. Competing with Wikipedia, YouTube and 'Govt' site with thousands of backlinks are not possible for every one.

Which KW research tool still works and which tool you guys used to find KWs?

KWFinder was one of my prefered choices, although it has a lot of issues and is extremely expensive. I've since discovered Twin Words Ideas which is really good tool and competitive prices.

Edit: Use a tool like Keyword Shitter to generate a massive list of keywords to then check monthly searches for in a KW Research Tool and do manual check.

google kw planner shows you ppc competition, not seo. I use keysearch.co, they have bhw discount and its a pretty decent tool, then I use ahrefs to check the backlinks of the the top ten.

Could you please give link of the tool you're talking about?

Ahrefs is ridiculously expensive.
I am looking for keywords for a small blog. Using $99/month on Ahref is not a good thing to do IMHO.

Thank you, KW Finder is already found by me :)
Could you please give link of the other tool you're talking about.

I already have Long Tail Pro but it doesn't work for Seed Keyword and Keyword search. It only works when I do 'Quick Search'.
In other scenarios/searches it got stuck at 'Checking for Google KW Planner Loaded and Logged In'.
KWFinder has issues as one member suggests here (and I read on other forum).
What's Google Auto Suggest? are you talking about Keyword Tool Suite from Keyword Tool Dominator?

- Long tail pro
- kwfinder
- google auto-suggest

everyone use their prefered tools for keywords research , every tool has different analyse factors , most seo expert says that semrush ,ahrefs and long tail pro are the best , but as i said everyone have his prefered tools.

All tools can just give you an idea based on mostly moz metrics. You have to do it manually to get an accurate idea.

I use Ahrefs to find out keywords. You can filter keywords as much as you want. After getting keywords I do manual checking to get the best keywords.
