There is still some good rap out there. Billy SuxNine could not even get close to these.

Not the most current examples, but still representative.

Edit: and this one

And this one brings back memory’s when I was in NY. Heard it banging everywhere I went; (before 2000!)

ooooh, yo b haven't heard MF DOOM in literally a decade. Straight fire!!

Rap now a days is filled with mumble rappers and homosexuals (no offense to anyone who is gay) .. new generation has definitely changed the genre. I can only listen to maybe 5% of the new music that comes out now a days.

mf doom... you have my heart sir. 12 years ago, when I first heard MF doom, I bought every album I could find. All the instrumentals, all the live, everything. He has a fucking album that is a 52 minute non stop rap and it's LIVE. Doesn't get much better than that.

How about that hilarious album where he collaborated with cartoon network? Danger Doom... A line that works perfectly here... "Eat a rapper for lunch, and spit out the chain."

I totally agree with @IGKing
How dafq u can compare 2pac and tekashi? I don't know why you all forgot Gucci Mane, best rapper in the world. He has good lyrics, flow, everything. Drake and Migos are really good too.
And why everything must have meaning? Most of "yeah, uh, huh, ayy" rappers raps about their fast cars, bad bitches and designer clothes and that is trap. I realized that usually older people (30 years and older) don't like trap, because they didn't grow up with that kind of music. I'm younger and i prefer this new rappers and I think that old rappers are boring.

German rapper Gzuz is really hyped this days, I don't understand a single word but I like to listen his music. It sounds like he has good lyrics and his videos are really hardcore.

Dude, it's not that it needs to have meaning. The rap these days DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. It's almost 100% nothing more than words that rhyme. I literally have no idea what the songs are about because they could be reading off rhymezone.com or something.

@Loxo GZUZ is talking about his weapons being real, what else did you think?

Then something about he will start shooting if he stops selling any of his (music).

Followed up by how tough they all are and you should not fuck with him and his girlfriends.

Germans and rap, still not sure if that’s a good combo. But to each his own I guess.

Go listen few songs of Gucci Mane and tell me that again.

Haha, thank you for explanation. From my point of view he is rapping about same things as old rappers.

There is a simple way to compare the old rap to the new rap. Replace the lyrics on the same track.

Lil Pump on Gucci Gang

Tupac on Gucci Gang

Lmao, let's do one more.

6IX9INE "Billy" (WSHH Exclusive - Official Music Video)

Tupac "Billy" (6IX9INE Remix)
Dang I think that first number gave me ear cancer!

But this is exactly what I mean. The flow of Tupac sounds way better on these tracks.

People thinking I'm comparing but I'm simply showing the difference in quality.

How about you listen to an interview, and listen to how he talks about his local community, and what he actually does for the community unlike the big "pop stars" he's a really genuine dude, yeah he might sound a bit cocky, but it's rap, when hasn't a rapper ever been cocky, this dude does some real shit to help poor people out and that's a good thing regardless of what anybody says

It might be but coming from a sex offender CBB much with it.

If he really cared about his "community" he wouldn't be making brainwashing songs that cause young people to be violent and destructive.
I don't mind violence in lyrics, Eminem had violence all the time but his flow was way better but I can agree to a certain extent.

Every song he's been dropping has hit the charts. 6 out of 6 songs in top 100

You can say you don't like his music but the kid made it
Never said he didn't, that's because this generation grows up with him and the marketing is very well handled.

Kids these days be like "Ain't nothin' to it, Instagram made me do it". lol

With that said, i listen to A$AP Rocky for instance or i can enjoy tracks like these:

If you ignore the obvious Instagram clowns, there are still gems.
Yeah not saying they all suck these days but for me most of them do.

If you like that style, Mc Eiht is still kicking it.

Gheghe that video with hodgy was pretty funny although I can't stand Tyler.

Back in the day it was Busta Rhymes who had sick beats and crazy videos.

He looks like a clown....comparing 2pac with a clown is a blasfemy.
Not comparing I'm showing the difference in quality then and now.

tyler the creator seems decent & sounds pretty good
I cannot stand this guy :D

Some quality here!!
Most people know him as the funny actor but back in the day he dominated lyrically.

His distrack to NWA is legendary.

Anyway, not saying it's all bad but for me most of it sucks!

But I listen to a couple of these cats that are from now. Merkules has a pretty good flow, Joyner Lucas has some deep tracks and some of Kendrick Lamar's tracks sound pretty dope through a subwoofer.

For you Tupac fans, listen to this dude, it fucks with your mind.

I have been listening rap music my whole life and these days it's really sad to see what those little girls are doing. Wearing their skinny jeans and purses and skirts n shit, that's retarded as hell.
I wouldn't compare 2000's rap VS 2018's rap because times change, but holy shit those new mumble rappers and other dumbasses make me want to puke.

Rap used to be about lyrics and delivering the message.. now it's just , I don't even know what. It's great that groups like Wu Tang Clan still exist and still provide incredible albums:

There's still tons of awesome new rappers, but yeah, most of the popular new rappers are wannabe gangstas and a bunch of little girls. Makes me want to slap them with my pimp hand.

Nothing is better than the real Hip-Hop instrumental from the 90s. Nothing can beat the beat and the flow of 'STILL' song.
Old school 'till I die.

I'm not a big rap guy. Eminem's got some good stuff (Stan, etc), and for more modern day people I've been liking Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, some of Macklemore/Ryan Lewis, and Black Skinhead by Kanye West is the first track of my running playlist.

These Soundcloud rappers are shit-garbage, and most of them are like 15-20 years old. I mean...

Gucci Gang, ooh, yeah, Lil Pump, yeah, Gucci Gang, ooh
Gucci gang, Gucci gang, Gucci gang, Gucci gang
Gucci gang, Gucci gang, Gucci gang (Gucci gang!)

Let us all just be thankful that most of these songs are two minutes long.

I agree but there are still artists coming out with authentic music.
They aren't all lil yachty's lol
I like a lot of what these guys have made
