is sitemap is necessary because i am gettimg this same shit for two website. without sitemap i can't rank ?

my first site is one page website
& but second has some page but still getting the same

Test your sitemap with these tools and try to find out the error.

I am using sitemap_index.xml version generated by Yoast plugin but today i noticed that a strange ulr for images within the sitemap page as mydomain.com//attachment-sitemap.xml. How can i remove this as all the images of my site are indexed with long url in Google.Please help me on this.

if you have a website with not many sitemap entries, and all the page are interlinked, you don't need a sitemap

Where are you placing the sitemap on your server? Like this http://www.domain.com/sitemap.xml
https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html

Are you using a CMS or what kind of website do you actually have, we need more information.

If you have a CMS, like wordpress you can download yoast SEO, and you'll have sitemap working fine for you, and I'm sure you'll have many alternatives for other CMS's.

If you have a html or a php website, you have to build the sitemap using a generator or something, so you have to tell us first what are you using.
