Next to having slow internet in the US, compared to the rest of the developed countries, you now run the risk of having sites throttled or pay a premium for what could be considered normal access in every other part of the world.

My bet is that a lot of upsells will happen.

Want speedy Netflix? 2 US$ a month extra.

Also like to post on FB without lag? 2 US$ a month extra.

And so on.

Verizon has throttled video traffic including Netflix many times before and now they have a free pass thanks to an ex Verizon Lawyer and now FCC Chairman Ajit Pai. Yea, no conflict of interest there... We’ve already seen and will see more network throttling but now we will see access to parts of the internet thought to conduct illegal or frowned upon activity such as Usenet and Torrents.

We won’t see this overnight but give it a few years and slowly things will change for the worse. There is a reason why companies like ATT and Verizon have been building an internet infrastructure and buying companies like DirecTv, yahoo and want Time Warner. They are becoming content providers and they want to control cell phone access, ISP, and TV to serve you. Don’t need internet because you have a fast enough cellular plan? Don’t need TV because you can stream your content? When a couple of companies provide us with access to our content where is the competition there? Companies have stockholders to please first so they have to find ways to show growth and make more money.

1Gbps internet is pretty common now in the U.S. and some areas have plans up to 10Gbps.

If I get internet and pay them for unlimited plan and a site is throttled the ISP will be in violation still,NN being repealed means that it goes from the FCC to the FTC on who regulates it.

Total false bullshit. Internet is not slow in the US. People who say this shit try to cite things like "but I can get 1gbps speeds in Korea/Norway/Japan/etc..." but you know what.. you get those speeds if your traffic never leaves the country.
 
Let’s not forget that the US also pays more for internet plans than in other places around the world. The same goes for cell phone plans. I wouldn’t mind as much about reversing net neutrality if there more choices for cable tv and internet plans. My choice for TV and internet is spectrum and fios and some people don’t have fios as an option. Lastly, back in the ‘90s telecoms were given hundreds of billions of dollars to replace old copper lines with fiber lines that could send 45 Mbs up and down.

And soon you too can get 1gps, as long as your traffic isn’t used for streaming or downloading movies.

As a European I researched this for a paper. The problem in USA is many areas only have 1 tops 2 isp's available resulting in more expensive internet, not particularly slower. However due it being more expensive in general people use slower connections than europe.
 
Let's just see what actually happens in the US after this law is passed. Who knows it might not be that bad as described by the media.

If they do that it and never said they would, they would be in violation. There was data caps under NN when cox and charter introduced unlimited plans for around $30 more. Phone companies have been throttling all through NN by slowing down the speeds of users that went over and connected to a congested tower.
