Yes; " There are countless Pinterest accounts out there who only post there own URL's consistently, Look at accounts like Buzzfeed all the way down to those accounts about Blogging Mom's making money from home. They all solely post their own links over and over and if anything are rewarded for this because of one simple fact. Repins."

Then the bigger they get, the more traction they achieve. Nice thread @William702

Hey man, just thought I would fire some questions at you to keep the discussion on this thread rolling as think it can benefit others including myself as always nice to see fresh info from a different perspective!

1. What strategies or tools do you have in place to keep track of the keywords you are ranking Pins for on Pinterest search? i.e do you use any software or online services to monitor the ranks or are you simply monitoring the pins as you go for clients and basing it more on the traffic results?

2. Joining Group Boards - What are your preferred ways for joining group boards for this ranking method? And do they need to have certain criteria like X amount of followers / X amount of posts daily to keep up your posting momentum and spacing? Or are you simply trying to amass as many boards as you can in and around the niche to allow for further posting down the line on your schedule?

3. You mentioned you Pin directly from product pages and rank those images, have you tested this with using Pins created for the sole purpose of becoming viral and generating repins & clicks? And do you believe this would cut the time to rank significantly in half or is it a simple case of peddling those pins on the schedule until you start to see them ranking?

Cheers!

1) Other than just using excel to keep a track of the products I am promoting I have not really been doing any tracking of that sort. The keywords and hashtags are just in there as a bonus along with any description that is pulled along when setting up the pin. The clients I have are not paying me to rank any of these hashtags. its just a bi-product of them having pinning so much for them. They did not give me any to include or anything like that. I just went off of the description or title of the product to add value to the service I was offering. This whole ranking effect is a very nice bonus and discovery on my part as well.

2) It's the same way for any method. I have detailed how I join and find group boards a lot in the other two threads I have referenced as well so they will be worth a look as I was asked that questions dozens of times especially in the selling invites method thread.

3) The purpose of any of the products I pin is to essentially get clicks and repins. some things do well and some dont. I dont spend too much time trying to perfect pins. I just make hundreds of them and send them out into the world lol. a pin getting repins and views from any means would probably give the same effect.

I have exactly the same concern with this method

I don't understand how the website is not banned yet on Pinterest

I dont think Pinterest are going to ban Etsy, eBay, Poshmark etc etc :)

Not in my experience, to have a link flagged or ghosted you would need to seriously be spamming it with a really high frequency over a short span of time.

There are countless Pinterest accounts out there who only post there own URL's consistently, Look at accounts like Buzzfeed all the way down to those accounts about Blogging Mom's making money from home. They all solely post their own links over and over and if anything are rewarded for this because of one simple fact. Repins.

By spacing the Pin's out mixed with all kinds of other pins and links especially on a Business Account you are doing what every other Marketer / Blog / Product or Service are doing on Pinterest and this is what they want, otherwise why would they be flaunting the Improvements to the ad platform to offer you further capability for exposure and clicks to your domain linked Pins?

The power is not so much in how many pins you post with your URL's which is where your focus seems to be (As the amount needed to rank could really vary per Niche / Keyword), but more but the frequency in which you are repinned by users (Or your own accounts) that find you pins valuable on the group boards you are posting to, this is where the ranking really starts to show.

By consistently re-posting the same pin your are essentially stacking the social engagement which is where the ranking starts to show. Again this is where you see multiple pins ranking for the same keywords in search as @William702 mentioned as you slowly begin to stack social engagement so high you dominate that Niche / Keyword and all the sub keywords that tail off from that.

Example: You rank #1 for "black leggings outfit" you probably then rank high for "black leggings outfit winter" also which you can have multiple pins ranking for to with different images and URL's.

You can actually check that example by searching keywords, then add a suggested long-tail's and you will see the same pins from the same URL's and accounts ranking highly against others solely going after the long version of the keyword. So you are not only ranking for 1 Keyword but multiple variants of that once you've stacked the amount of engagement and repins.

This could not be achieved simply by Pinning your images and URL's with only one account over and over hoping to rank with little to no repins from other users, the algorithm for ranking is looking to total up all the repins, comments, tried, shares externally to position you in search. This simply would not be possible if one account was the sole Pinner / Repinner of that URL or Pin, you are heavily reliant on the engagement of others and having this spread across Pinterest.

Exactly, give this man a prize :)

Seriously though if you are pinning the same thing only with one account and not having any variation and pinning thousands of pins all in one go then yes you will probably get fucked but if you are clever and pin from locations that have literally millions of pins happening anyway you will probably be invisible to the screens they have in place.

Thank you.

Exactly the bigger they are the more they will grow organically and the snow ball effect will kick in. You are just helping it get to the top and it will likely stay there based on the organic traction it builds by being there going forward.

Does it matter if you get repins from those SMM website or bots?

I'm not sure. I imagine that Pinterest keep an eye on some of those type of sites. and maybe it wont get calculated by their algorithms the same way.....I have no idea really. It could work just as well. I assume that any repins and activity is good as long as its not coming from a source they have banned or restricted. I also cant answer the bot question either because I dont know. I suspect that there are dozens of factors that are used to judge a pin and some may hold more weight than others. I really dont know but great question.

@William702 But if you're posting the same set of pins in a 100 group boards, your own pin feed (when you're in "pins view" is clogged with the same pins?

Not really no, as they are different pins and all randomized so my feed just looks like a normal feed, yeah if you scroll down it a bunch of times you will see lots of the same pins but at a glance it looks totally normal.

I see thanks
One last thing, do your 4 accounts have the same group boards? Or are they all different? I mean are you posting on 100 group boards using 4 accounts? Or on 400 group boards?

100 give or take, some times i have to get new boards, sometimes if the board is too small i can overrun it a little and might get removed so give or take its about 100 group boards.

By spacing the Pin's out mixed with all kinds of other pins and links ...
But that's not what @William702 seems to be doing (if I understand correctly). He's not mixing the pins with all kinds of other pins. He's using 4 different accounts to pin from his client's website a set of 20-30 pins, at a rate of 90 pins a day, to the same 100 group boards.

well there is more too it than that. lets say I have 30 different items to promote. I make a pin for each one. I set up those pins to go out to multiple group boards. So if i have set up 30 pins to go out to 100 boards that 3000 pins. I just press randomize and then all of those pins get mixed up and all of the boards get mixed up too. its not as though i am pinning 90 pins to a board and then moving to the next one. All the pins and boards are randomized.

I do mix in other pins into my queue. I'm using more than 4 accounts, you may just be referring to an example I made above about one of the packages.

Ah well that's an important point. In the case of someone just using their main single account, would pinning their own pins 90 times a day result in a ban?

There must be a dozen factors that result in a ban. It would depend on many things like what you are posting, the links, the destination etc.
There is no difference to using one account or 4. As long as you set up the pins correctly and make sure everything looks good at a glance you should be fine.

1. Is it better to pin the same thing every time (same description and everything) or something else like a new product?
2. Does it matter where you pin? I have some boards with a few thousands followers, but they're not engaged at all so I don't want to risk getting the pins reported vs pinning on my board (no followers)
3. Is it safe to pin 90 times per account per day? I say this because I've been pinning using my main account (connected to my Shopify and Pinterest business).

So does this only work for ranking product pins? what about normal pins?

1) No pinning the same thing over and over will show up in your pin section and could get your account suspended. I pin 20+ items at a time and randomize them so that it's not the same every time but I can pin them over and over given time.
2) Yes it does matter, you want it to have plenty of action. Pin them to active group boards not just your own boards.
3) I pin 90 times per account per day. My accounts are all ones I use for my businesses or businesses I had and are all valuable to me. I wish I could tell you that you wont lose it but it all depends on what you do so you could.

I can only speak to what I have done myself and I have only pinned product pins.

When I say 20+ items at a time I am not saying all at once. I mean I have 20+ items in the pool of items I can choose from so that when it selects a pin its not the same, it might do two in a row but it never does several in a row all of the same thing.

I didn't want that confusing anyone.

If everyone can rank at the top, who will be at the bottom?

imagine pinterest as the google of 2009. Back then stuffing keywords and spamming any backlinks got you to the top. Then google noticed the abused and adjusted. And so will pinterest, eh?

Btw..the beauty of ranking pins through high amounts of repins (can easily do it the legit way as well) - it does have a very immediate effect on your seo game. been able to rank highly competive keywords with it (only works if the content is stellar tho)

The masses are calling for Pinterest to be banned BTW...
