Video-based or Written?

Video-based content like infographics or infomercials are projected to be trending this year. Would this affect the need for written content or would it blend well with the "tradition"? What are your thoughts?

Why limit yourself. I would do different content types targeting different audience. This will maximize your outreach as well as maximize the lifespan of your content.I love watching on youtube what i want to learn but i also consume articles and infographics.

Use whatever communication mediums your target market uses, likes and consumes.

If you are using content hosted on the big non self hosted platforms, eg Youtube, Vimeo, Web 2.0's, tell viewers that they can visit your blog to download additional "sensitive and unpublished" info via your blog.

Some people will download the the additional resources and you can capture emails, pre-sell, cross-sell etc

I agree. There are many methods to create content nowadays. And as an internet marketer, we need to adapt to these changes.

I personally think you need both. Vodeos or infographics are great, but often people want to look at content but don't want to watch a video. So written content should still be an option. Also it really depends on the type of audience one has or is after.

Yes, video content is getting more popular every day, but I don't think it will replace or overpower the written content. There should be a balance.

I guess video and other rich media is becoming very important.

Personally though I prefer written content, if I’m trying to learn something online I always feel like video is too time consuming - you really have no choice about the speed at which you consume the information.

I personally do like both. However, sometimes it is easier to watch a video if you are in a hurry. But then again you can skim content quicker if the video is long. I think that they both have a place on sites.

to be honest, in this smart world we live in I think we are getting lazier such that these traditional ways of getting info like written content will be phased out and Video-based content like infographics or infomercials will increase.
