This is far from a new market as people have been eating insects in one form or another for years.

Exporting perishable food items isn't much of a great idea I'd say.
I mean if that's your thing, then maybe but if you are new in international exports, then its a rough road.

Yes a big part of the World eat them already and for a very long time. But I mean for most western countrys its very new.
I dont have to inport or export a little farm wouldnt be that expensive or I can buy them only a few kilometers away in netherland.
I think to Feed the World in the Future we cant eat that much flesh and fish. Insects never will be a complete meal in my country or it will take very long. But as a supplement or as a snack it could work very well.
For now its still too expensive and to disgusting for most people. I had made some test in my home town in the Streets alot of young people are interested but they wouldnt buy them as real food. But as a challenge.
Pasta. Bread. Or burger will selling much better than the whole insects.

Yes, canned insects. I brought the canned mealworms to a 'dare game' with my friends while we're having our night. It was hilarious and fun! Taste-wise... it is exactly like what others said... crispy, with a hint of nutty flavour.
There was also the canned tarantula but none of us dared to try it so I brought it home. My brother took it to have the same dare game with his friends. He told me the tarantula legs were crispy but tasteless. But no one dared to eat the body of the tarantula as it was squishy and wet to the feel. So... they threw it away.
It is only the psychological barrier that stops us from devouring it. It's a good low-carb, high-protein meal and has relatively low calories. I remember reading there was a restaurant or place that sells flavoured insects.
Would I eat it regularly? Nope! It just won't pair well with wine. Hee!
Anyway, back to your inquiry, maybe dropship or buy in bulk from the canned insects' seller to sell it? Even if people wouldn't like the idea of devouring insects as their meal replacements it will make a pretty funny dare game.
P.S: I remember seeing this Youtube video of a guy chewing a humongous worm or grub? Then it spewed everywhere. Ugh... recalling it makes me cringe.

I dislike insects, bugs, creepy crawlies, not quite a phobia but close.
Having said that, have seen a few TV Travel/Food programs that showed fried insects as street food in Asia and it didn't look too bad, so would give it a go.

People need some time to adjust on that kind of food. It is geographical problem. Make an Irish to eat bug, or American to exchange burgers with bugs. It's normal for every country to have national meal so mentioning bugs makes goosebumps for them. From my point of view if you want to make something out of it, just invest in advertising what you want to make,and after that start making.
