Negative reviews to take down competitor

So... I'm debating using fake negative reviews to take down a competitor... Anyone done that? What's your experience? Thoughts?

You can do it, but what’s more efficient - doing negative seo work for every competitor that gets in front of you, or just doing positive seo work for your site?

And what’s more long term? Each time you spend on trying to make your competitors fail is more time you are not learning how to succeed yourself so you’re likely to fall further behind imho.

Slippery slope, too. How will your competitors react when they realize what's happening? Who says they're not above using fake negative reviews too? I don't think you should do it. Instead you should focus your attention on other efforts to boost yourself positively past your competitors.

I've had this done to me by a few low life competitors in the past, it's not nice when you've put in hard work, time and money to build your brand.

here's some context - they are poaching my best talent. aggressively. sometimes successfully. I only know this by accident, but I've checked - it's true.

and before you say "I guess you should just treat your employees better" know that every group of people has it's ups and downs and if you're persuasive enough - no matter how good you treat everyone - at some low point someone will give in.

Fuck me, if they're poaching your staff you need to offer a better package - simple OR recruit better staff who understand loyalty.

The job marketplace is an open market, otherwise headhunters wouldn't exist.
Someone freely walking out to join a competitor is just one of those things - maybe you should hire an employment lawyer and get employment contracts drawn up?

So, someone walking out on you to go to another job isn't illegal. Someone selling you a product then not delivering / failing to refund is theft which is illegal.

Depends on the industry to be honest. I would concentrate on getting good reviews before doing that. Good or bad, reviews are a signal that google picks up from.

Doesn't mean you own them. I've lost many staff but never once thought about going round to bomb the company who offered them 50p an hour more!!!

I think it would not be a good idea to attack your competitor with negative reviwes... instead of trying to get few more real reviews for your item as well ... it just a time and money waste thinking that will be super rubbish

From what you say. It doesn't look like the other firm is headhunting your employees. More like your employees have found a less abusive employer.

You need to look at your own actions and make changes, Because now your employees have found an alternative to you.

While you might consider your reactions just and normal. Your staff obviously disagree, and are telling you this in the only way they know how.

You have obviously lost the trust and loyalty of your staff. Sending fake reviews about your competitor won't fix that.
