Started Making $$, But hosting will expire. How do I backup Site?

Hi guys. My site started getting traffic and I started making few cents. My hosting is also expiring in 4 days and I don't have money to renew it. What I plan to do is let it expire, then get a discount price for hosting at a far cheaper price (like a first time user) and reupload the the site again.

I have never done something like this before, I plan to use Updraftplus plugin to back it up to google drive and restore it when I get a new hosting. I want to know if it'll work, I don't want to ruin my hardwork and first time making money from a website.

Install Duplicator Plugin and create a backup.
Download the installer and Backup zip file and move to new host.
It is very easy.

I agree with the guy above. You can use a duplicator. Another thing, the new hoster should be able to provide you a free transfer. Generally, to help prevent downtime, they will move over the website first then have you switch name servers Oh and if you need help, I dont mind helping free of charge of course

I went to test out that duplicator plugin with my other domain. Everything was successfully imported but there are 2 problems. On the original site, everything redirects to the domain I used for testing. 2. The database created for the test does not appear in my list of databases. I'll PM you now.

Prefix www.
if your site is yoursite.com, add www before the URL.

Example - www.yoursite.com/installer.php

This will resolve your redirect issue

I'm far past that stage. What I'm saying is that example1.com that I backed up and imported in example2.com worked fine. But now, example1.com is redirecting me to example2.com and I believe it has to do with the database, but I don't have any idea how to configure databases.

Weird.
you are saying your original site is redirecting to duplicated site.
I have no idea because your original site is untouched by the plugin.
It could be other way because i have experienced, Example2.com redirects to Example1.com

I know why it's like that. When setting up the database of example2.com with the installer.php, I didn't create a new api, and I chose "create new database and backup old one"
I was unable to create a new database, so I chose that option. Choosing the option just updated the database of Example1.com and redirected all domain url instances and it also renamed the original database to structures to xp__123bah__wp_bch_country. So all I had to do was delete all the current ones and then I started removing the prefix xp_123blah__. When I completed renaming everything, the site was back alive. The hosting expires in a day time.

If your site is hosted on a cpanel server you can use the backup manager and make a backups and then when you get your new host then you can just restore the backups

I don't know how to do that one. The cpanel options on the old ipage host doesn't display a backup option.

People, i'm having a hard time with this thing. I have used the Duplicator plugin to restore the site, but the site is not loading. HTTP 500 error. What do I do?

depending on your host this might actually end up costing you more money or you'll have to wait a redemption period in order to get the cheaper rates. not sure if this is with every hosting provider but This recently happend to me. i let my domain and hosting expire i either had to pay more then the original fee or wait 2-3 months for my domain to become available again. just a heads up. * edit* forgot to throw in updraft plus works good ive used it myself to back up myself

Site is running now, as I renamed the theme folder to theme_off, the site loaded up immediately. The problem now is how do I resolve the issue?

how is the traffic coming to your site ?
same as the day , your last hosting expired ?

Hosting expired. I wasn't able to make the site live for some days, so I have low traffic now (like almost back to the start)
