Ask Me Anything About Pinterest (Pinterest AMA)

Hi William

Great thread....highly informative, quick question for you are you currently finding "Authorization failed" issues with Pinterest either via TailWind or directly?....this last 4-5 days it appears almost impossible to log in and pin via automation, and am just very surprised that the issues have not been raised here?.

Regards
Kevin

I read that after account creation, pinning should not be done for 15days to allow the account age.

Not strictly true, you should start them up very gently for the first month, pinning at least 50% other peoples pins ;)

By gently I mean 30-50 daily pins total/account.

I'm looking for some advice. I only use Pinterest to drive traffic to my website. I have tried other social networking like Twitter and Facebook with no luck. I built up a Pinterest account using SM2, which I stopped using a few months ago. I have been manually pinning to boards and following people. My website was marked as spam on Pinterest today after having a viral event a few weeks ago. I have had problems with my account ever since that event. So I still have my Pinterest account with over 60,000 pins leading to a website that has been marked as spam and not getting clicks. I have another domain I bought awhile ago that is relevant to my niche, but I don't have hosting on it or a site built for it. Should I get hosting for that domain and clone my site to it? Then change the links on Pinterest to direct to the new site? I don't know what to do. I put all my eggs in one basket with this one and now I'm screwed. I have been in contact with Pinterest for the past few weeks and woke up to this today. What is the easiest way to do this? Please keep in mind I am a beginner with not much experience at all. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi. Recently, I noticed new accounts I created initially start getting traffic for a week or so but then traffic stops. I must add that these accounts are active but are now just dormant. My question is how do you create fresh accounts and stay under the radar before one starts pinning etc?

I set up the account with a bunch of boards and repin stuff that has already been repinned tens of thousands of times so I know that its popular. This helps set up a nice looking account and draws in some organic traffic over time too. Once you have an account set up with 10 - 15 boards all with 10 - 15 pins on each it looks established to the average passer by. You then need to start following some people and boards relevant to you and the things that you are promoting or have pinned to the initial boards you created. Try and act like natural user for a few days and then add in a few pins here and there to some group boards that you get invites to and just grow from there. I now have lots of accounts where I can pin thousands of pins each month and its no problem. bit if you try and do that with a fresh account with no profile info filled out or no boards or pins then you will get suspended for sure.

Thanks William for your help. I am interested to know what affiliate offers you can promote via Pinterest.

The sky is the limit. There are thousands of things you can promote and thousands of niches represented in some way on Pinterest so really anything.

I read that after account creation, pinning should not be done for 15days to allow the account age.

like I mention above it's best to do something along the lines of log in now and then for a few minutes, do a search, repin some of those pins to your boards, and then you can pin some of your own promotional pins in among them. I dont add those in for at least a week or two on new accounts.

Hi Kevin, Not personally no. All I get is pin failed from time to time but around 1 out of a thousand so negligible. If you are having any sort of issues like that I would imagine that their support team could help you.

That's a tough one. I'll send you a PM and then address any non sensitive questions here for others to see when I have got more info from you. I realize you cant send PM's yet so I will message you and you can reply there.

Hi

Great thread.

I have to questions:

1- I am using Pinterest FL. I recently got several accounts banned after the first follow on pinterest. Acoounts were pinning one pin a day for about two weeks after created, but the moment they followed the were shut down. This has not happened to me before. What's you recommendation about when is it safe to start following with new accounts?

2- The follow back rate in Pinterest has reduced considerably. What would be your suggestion about creating followers with Followliker on Pinterest these days? Thanks

I'm afraid I do not use FL nor do I follow people that much either, only a few people here and there to make things look normal. Pinning on pinterest is where the action is at and not following or being followed. That said I see a LOT of people talking about FL here so I'm sure there will be someone who could help you with your question.

Thanks for your answer.

So you grow your account followers just by pinning?

Using keywords? of just posting on your board even if you are starting with no followers?

Question 1: What would your advice be for someone just starting out in Pinterest to generate traffic to their site?

Question 2: What's the best way(s) to get twitter followers to follow on Pinterest?

I let it grow organically like a real account, a normal every day user who does not care about how many followers they have nor do they follow that many other people. It's really only someone trying to promote something who shows that behavior so maybe that's a reason I dont get too many problems on Pinterest and never have to worry about using proxies. I'm not logging in and out of several account throughout the day as most of the activity I preform is done by apps such as pinning. I just dont worry about following people or getting followers so I dont worry about the keywords I dont worry about my pins getting me followers. I just want people to follow the pins and purchase products.

Question 1: What would your advice be for someone just starting out in Pinterest to generate traffic to their site?

Question 2: What's the best way(s) to get twitter followers to follow on Pinterest?

I have covered this question several times already :) Please read the whole thread as you will probably find the answers to your question there.

Hello William!
I'd like to ask you how you promoted your Dropshopping store?

For the Adsense monetisation strategy you created 5 differect blogs with 10 posts on each and then you posted 10 pins on 5 differect Pinterest accounts. Repeat every day.

What's your recommendation for an Ecommerce Store?

Best regards

h0pez

That might be a question for a different thread. This thread is specifically for Pinterest questions.

But as a general rule I try and use a lot of influencers. I find new emerging influencers that dont ask for money or if they do its not thousands of dollars at least. I dont know what you are talking about when it comes to blogs and posts, maybe you are mistaking me for another member. The member you may be thinking of has not shown back up in that thread to answer any questions since it was posted. To answer your question. I don't use adsense in that way, maybe I should try lol.

As for ecomm, again influencers and youtubers talking about your products are the best ways I have found to get the word out about a store.

So from reading this thread I've learned :

-> Make 15 boards or more and populate them
-> Follow/Unfollow = useless.
-> Multiple accounts = mostly useless.
-> My ability to get into groups and grow is determinated by my ability to social engineer.
-> CPA, AdSense blog/websites are not really a good idea, it's better to promote a business?

Is this right ?

I am currently trying to make a backup account for all of my boards = created a new acc and invited it to the boards. It's a fucking pain in the ass ... 3 accs got disabled so far... even after creating 15 boards with 15 pins in each by myelf before accepting the invites. Any suggestions?

1) Yes 15+ boards with at least a dozen or two pins
2) I would not go that far but I just spend my time doing more profitable things than trying to get Pinterest followers.
3) No I have plenty of accounts and use lots of them. Can you be more specific?
4) Well more of a case of coming across like a professional person. There is no need to manipulate anyone into doing anything but sending a message to a board owner like a eight year old from India wont get the job done. Just messaging people and asking them if they would like to trade works wonders.
5) I dont think so personally but with anything, if it can be automated and makes sense then give it a go. I just dont see the right click through rate to be able to do CPA stuff, However the conversions on some products in the home decor and wedding categories more than make up for the lack of clicks.

You are probably trying to do it way too fast. Rome was not built in a day. The accounts I have personally I have created over a long time. I may not make a new one for weeks or even month, which is mostly due to the fact I rarely ever get suspended. Lay low for a while. Although your IP is probably fucked now if you were just doing it from home and trying to do way too much at once.

Lay low for a week or two and do something else and then log in to your main account. use it over a few days. Log out and dont log back in for a few days and then try and create a new account. Don't do all of the set up right away, just add a board or two and like some pins, not many! Just a few to seem like a real person and then build from there.

3/ It seemed that you had more success focusing on acting like a human rather than botting.
4/ I wasn't really thinking about manipulation as much as much as I was thinking about how to sell myself.

Yes that's correct a lot more. It's not about being totally manual it's about automating the things that wont get you in trouble and scaling those things in huge numbers to make up for maybe some of the better methods and tactics that will get you in trouble. Sorry manipulate was probably the wrong word to use, I was just referring to you saying social engineering and manipulation, control was the first thing that came to mind. I get what you mean by it :)

Sorry dude that one was a little too good to be shared in the public forum so I asked for it to be moved to the VIP section. If you were lucky enough to read it and take action before it was moved then I'm happy. The last method I shared only took a few months to become totally saturated. I want my Jr VIP brethren to take advantage of it before that happens and If I am being totally honest I also want to take advantage of it before that happens ;) I'll be updating that thread shortly in the VIP section with some info about how it's going and what I am doing.

I have another question, what do you know about the pinterest audience and erotica ebooks ? Is it a good idea to mix both ?
Edit : Also is it a good idea to promote your own instagram in pinterest by pinning onto relevant boards ?

Hello, how to get traffic from pinterest? I tried it once but I don't get that with pins

Are you talking things like fifty shades of gray or are you talking straight up porn? if its full on adult stuff then no it does not mix that well. There are not really that many boards for it etc.
