Lol can you imagine them as mods?

mr.f would probably spend at least an hour every day acquainting anyone with the size of his wallet
sherbert would handout infraction points for every spelling mistake in a post, redarrow would be permabanned
proxy go would write about him being 'a 2009-2017 moderator of bhw' every time before posting the actual content of his post

Neon would force everyone to adopt chickencoin as their one true god

No thanks. I've seen the thankless work these mods put into this board. Dealing with 90% bitching and moaning and solving issues for people that have zero lasting benefit to the company (BHW parent company). It's basically customer service, and I have no idea how these guys handle it with such poise and composure. I did my time in that realm, six years of it, and I'm glad I'm out.

It's not like that for regular/super moderators, or at least not for me. If I had to create a pie chart showing how my time on BHW as a moderator is spent, I would say my time is spent like this:

• 1% dealing with "bitching and moaning". The majority of people aren't ballsy enough to do this to me, and the ones who are get shut down quick.
  
• 15% customer service. Between PMs, profile posts, and support issues in threads, I only deal with an average of 5 or so a day.
• 15% moving and closing threads. Admittedly I find this to be mundane.
• 10% issuing infractions and banning people. Most people either don't respond or thank me for issuing them an infraction.
• 4% responding to general threads. I still like engaging with the community.
• 15% casually reading threads. I only really moderate the forum in the middle of the night.
• 40% hunting down scammers and previously banned members. One person can take between a minute to several hours to take down.

It can definitely be thankless at times and, in my experience, there are a lot of people who even try using you because of your position here in one way or the other. It's honestly made me a bit paranoid and reluctant to make friends here, even with other upper forum members (hence why I push people away). But at the same time, there are a lot of people who appreciate what I do here. I don't get much from adulation, so naming and shaming scammers makes all of this worth it to me.
