Hello BHW,

I am not new to this thread, but finally decided to create an account today in hope of providing some insights, on my shopify + IG + Facebook.

So to start... this is the second website I have tried to create, so I am not a professional! With the help of BHW and doing some research. I was able to create my shopify shop using "Oberlo" as a tool for dropshipping, and also an easier way for a new company to startout without the worry of inventory.

I have currently around 150 products on my website with a dot com domain. I have also set up my Facebook page, and also made it easy to shop on. On the otherhand, my Instgram account is just starting out with around 50 followers which I am starting to grow naturally by following users of my niche who are commenting and therefore will give me a higher ratio for follow backs.

With all of this in mind I decided to create a Facebook ad using a conversion pixel. So far I am able to get traffic to my website at the cost of $0.01 per person using this campaign. I have been running this ad for two days and have managed to spend $5 in total on the second day, bringing me 470 people to my site. If you do the math it's

$5÷470Reaches = $0.0106/Reach

I just used one picture of the website logo for the ad and I am sure that is why I am not getting sales. I will create a promotion photo on photoshop and add it to my campaign. With this, I think the customers seeing the product on the ad picture before reaching the site will give me a better bounce rate as well.

So I boosted my total ad budget to $20 and extended it until the end of this month. Keep in mind my prices are in CAD. With the change in the ad photo tomorrow, and some adjustments to the website I hope I can get a conversion in the next few days.

Will keep you posted on my journey to a successful shopify store daily.

I just started my Shopify journey last month and still no sales :(

Shopify is for people that dont know what their doing. Understand its just a host with a bunch of apps that
will take you too much time to learn. And then if shopify dont like what your selling your domain/website is gone.
IM old school blackhat.......build it and you own it.
shopify owns you...........its just a quick money gig.....wont last for us Blackhatters.
I have been down this road before, its why I own my own server.
Nobody can touch me. Nobody.

Do you have prior experience with all these apps. Some of them are quite pricey. I'm just starting my drop shipping journey as well, and I'm probably gonna cancel them all once the free trial periods are over.

Yeah, already figured that out. They had a free 2 month trial offer, so I figured why not. If I'm not making decent sales by then, bye bye Shopify. It's been over a week now, and I still don't see what all the hype is about.

On a completely different note. Which would you say would be most effective. Me upgrading to Jr VIP so I can market my writing company here, or purchasing a sales post?

Well thats a loaded question. If you upgrade there is no easy answer to your questions, If you have a solid writing then your ok.
But i dont know your writing skills. Most I have seen here not so good.
If your confident your good.......then step up and become jr vip.

Thanks for the quick reply. I go consider my self to be a gifted writer. Wrote for Yahoo once upon a time. I've been thinking about it a lot lately since obviously lots of people here need content.

I think I'll go ahead and get the VIP upgrade. I've made almost 20k from the things I learned here, so I guess it's only right I give some back.

Good Luck OP. Shopify is certainly alive. It's up to you to be persistent.

What's a conversion pixel? Also, wouldn't it be better if for your fb ad you put out a picture of one of your trending product? And then a link to your shop and your product?
Gl

A Pixel conversion can be used to target statistics such as which items that were viewed, items added to the cart, how many people went to the checkout, etc.

The reason I use a conversion pixel is because I want to only pay when I make a conversion. Making my cost to get impressions, reaches, post engagement, post clicks are all really low. But the main reason I am using it because I want to know what are the top viewed items on my shop and therefore I can start to narrow down my target audience.

Keep in mine, I am not a pro here and I am just trying everything out of trail and error!

have you thought about having 500-1k accounts shout you out? most will do it for free. Then you can get more targeted people,. since most bots do not follow small accounts.

Update.

So today I added 10 more products to my shop, all related to one niche.

I've spent $6.17 ($30 Budget) on Facebook ads getting me the results of:
- 470 People reached
- 548 Impressions
- Also 5 different engagements

I found a website called "nibbler.skilktide" dot com which Tests and rates my website for Accessibility, Experience, Marketing, and Technology. This is a free service btw. With that I got a rating of 6.8 which, didn't seem good enough for me. Just by looking at the suggestions on how to fix the following optimization, meta tags, etc. I was able to get my website a rating of 7.5.

I think this is the best I can get it at the moment because my major weakness right now comes from the 4.2 Marketing rating, and with in that the sub topics, includes: Domain age (which I just got, so it would obviously be a low rating), Popularity, which is rated by Alexa rankings (overtime I will start to climb the ladder), and lastly is incoming links and Facebook page which I plan to scale and in the middle process of it.

All my traffic are mainly coming in from the US, and Canada but still currently no sales but I am happy with one thing today and that is I changed the front of my store and have managed to bring down my bounce rate to 43% from 90% which I think is a dramatic change that gives me hope :)

Still no sales but only soon time.

I have tried asking some people related to my niche but so far everybody is charging $80 or more. I am also using social blade to see how many followers they are getting daily.

Wow that's quite useful, didn't know about this. Even I'm new to IM but as a consumer what I'd like to see is definitely a picture of the product you're selling but maybe with your company logo on the pic itself? Sorry if I haven't sentenced it correctly

does facebook ads and google adwords, perceive shopify based sites to be more friendly? thats why shopify sites are approved more easily?
