This is good, up to 20 competitors, where if have convert as authority URL's, but they don't ban you as a competitor if you offer affiliate commission, and back-link to them with a link popularity farm, I would say at least half will convert, and the others suffer with the parasite-host (micromanager) relationship. Mutual symbiosis, clown fish and sea anemones, is my goal, which outlive the parasite-host combinations every time.

The problem is, as a newbie, I am having a devil of a time with all my posts failing, never higher than 25%. I guess I need 100 private proxies, public proxies for extraction, and better footprint correlations.

If buying quality backlinks falls under 'Blackhat SEO' category than BH is alive and doing very well. After the FRED update a few months ago a couple of my posts lost ranking. Everyone was saying it's keywords density and ads on top of page/post. Since I don't have ads above the fold I was playing with keywords density to get them back where they were before. That didn't work well. Got sick and tired of it and left it for month or two. Then I bought some good links, sure enough, those posts got not where they were before but better, top 5 for very competitive keywords. Assuming that you have well-written content (there is no magic number for keyword density) good backlinks are still the KINGS!

No, it's not dying and never will as long as search engines exist. If anything, it will adapr as search engines change.

It's not dead, just a stalemate, as it is more competitive. Sniffing out the "nanny Nazis" as moderators, who often have the high Alexa, low obl's/higher do-follow
count, does mean you have to do more manual posting than lower the boom with spun non-anchor text editorials, don't be spammy or create an obvious sales pitch, before you post anchor text and lower the second boom after 15 posts. Some of the Nazis will let you promote something they don't consider competition, but still keyword relevant because many websites are diverse with that one keyword relevant "niche" page. I still say it is good to post to lower Alexa pages with more do-follows, fewer Nazis, long-tail keywords with same partial highly-competitive keyword, and build them up with a multi-tier pyramid, and give the Nazis the Nuremburg treatment.
