The problem is, as a newbie, I am having a devil of a time with all my posts failing, never higher than 25%. I guess I need 100 private proxies, public proxies for extraction, and better footprint correlations.

No, it's not dying and never will as long as search engines exist. If anything, it will adapr as search engines change.
