Ask Me Anything About Pinterest (Pinterest AMA)

Thanks for the insight. I will mention that IG cannabis niche is alive and well :)

Yes it is and snapchat works well too for exposure and to drive people to a more well crafted message on a Facebook page or group. The whole QR code thing has helped them get a lot of followers. It Doesn't take long to help a company build their social media out to the point where they can make a few notifications a day and get all the business they can handle. In a few months the ones I'm helping will be able to rely on it solely for business rather than spending anything on marketing including with me. A few tweets and posts will get them all the business they will ever need. I also get treated like a rock star every time I go in there which is nice lol.

How to make a pin go viral:)

If there was a definitive guaranteed way I to do that I would be a millionaire .......I'm not

Of course there are ways to boost a pin along. There are ways to incentive repins and lots of exchange sites that you can use but the best way is to have a good pin that people want to share. if its just a picture of your products or service chances are it will never go viral.

What is your daily traffic UV?

What is your daily traffic UV?

Thank you for your question but my personal numbers won't help you in any way. It's also a very hard question to answer as I send traffic to many locations including to dozens of clients sites and products. If you have a question that you think the answer will be beneficial and will help others please feel free to ask. Thanks

What are your thoughts on tierred repinning to jump start pin ranking in pinterest search?

Also any views on building groups of profiles with KW based auto repinning to build their Pinterest authority?

That's a good question. It has become a lot harder to gain followers on Pinterest now. its really just a numbers game over time. If you have a bot of some kind that can follow people for you then its worth it but if you have to do it manually you wont really see any results. The best way to get followers is to pin viral pins. If you do a search for any topic you will see pins that have been repined thousands of times, repin these or set them up to go out manually with something like tailwind. I get literally millions of impressions on some of the pins I have shared and they generate hundreds and sometimes thousands of repins every week. This means that lost of people are exposed to my profile and I get a few followers from it. I'll admit though its nothing to shout about but it's something. I'm going to try and run some ads soon to see if I can get any meaningful results from them. I'll report back to see if that helps at all.

I actually do use a bot for following, but still have seen very poor results. It's quite frustrating because the bot I paid for feels pretty much useless now. The idea of pinning viral pins sounds like a good way to go though and I'd definitely be interested in seeing what type of results you'd get from running some ads too. Thanks for the advice.

I post 35 pins to several random public boards that are about my niche and are not filled with spam. I repeat this every day.
I do not follow people and perform no other task. I get only a few pin saves and a handful of pin clicks.

Do you have any other suggestions? I'd like to increase the number of repins and clicks.

I want to try this idea: to promote a mega-pin by pinning "promo" images to group boards.
Mega-pin is a type of long compilation/toplist pins that have some intriguing clickbaits.
"Promo" pins are just usual pins on group boards that lead to the mega-pin.
This way I want to make mega-pins go viral.
Of course there are other ways to promote mega-pins as William mentioned:
pin exchange sites
ibo toolbox
tailwind tribes
viralcontentbee/triberr like sites
empire.kred missions
facebook groups/fanpages
etc

Yeah it can work well. Using many accounts to repin and share your main pin leading to a service or product is a good idea. Sorry but can you clarify what KW means?

Out of all of the social media platforms Pinterest has the worst one when it comes to getting followers by the normal means. It really is about getting mentioned by others. There are lots of Pinterest influencers and people who do well on the platform. its worth reaching out to some to see what promotional services they offer as it may fit well for the types of things you are trying to promote.

You can use lots of things like Facebook groups to offer people invites to a group board for free in that niche. they just have to follow you and send you the link to their profile in order to be invited. again though followers on pinterest are not something to worry about. if you are building some brand and want to be seen as having a ton of followers just go out and buy some for a few dollars. its just about playing the numbers game. the more pins you can get out there under the more hashtags the better.

Well that's an easy one, just scale what you are doing now. you are seeing results from the pins you do now so do more of them. I like to try and automate as much as I can so that its sort of like free traffic. What type of products or service are you promoting? You may be promoting it in the niche specific locations but if that niche is not one that has much of a following from the demographics on Pinterest then you might not ever see good results.

it's all about testing, you may find several other methods or techniques while trying to get your "mega-pin" to go viral. Use a combination of the methods you used. Tribes is very interesting if you are looking to get followers. Its easy to join a tribe on taiwind of 20 - 30 people. if its one that requires you to follow each other then you go to each tribe and get 20 - 30 new followers every time. Some have other requirements that you may not want to do so at that point you could leave and probably retain 95% of the follows.

Basically I am looking to rank Pins by Keywords. So any advice would be greatly appreciated.

In the past I have used Pinterest Ads to to this exclusively. For an ecommerce site, I prefer Pins to get repined through search compared to the viral pin approach.

But I can say the right listicle Infographic pin can generate a lot of clicks to website from Pinterest. Especially with a well written article and some relevant and very complimentary comments under the pin. It gets people to click to the website more.

Thanks for the tip! My niche is jewelry related. I joined several boards with the help of pingroupie.com . I've also automated everything, my own bot posts 35 pins at random to these groups. I repeat that daily. Sadly I do not follow/unfollow people, not sure if that would help me at all.

is there any free tools to automate niche relevant repin, posting from sites, following & unfollow?

how to see how much repins / impressions the pin got? i don't see any other metrics like instagram photo likes

With not having used the ad system myself I cant say how effective it would be. Getting pins to rank for keywords is sort of difficult too as i have seen different pins be shown when the page is refreshed so i dont know how many pins pinterest are not even showing when you do a search. I suspect having a pin repined a bunch of times will help it rank but now that they have taken the counter off its hard to see whats what.

I love info-graphs, they are a great way to get traffic from Pinterest but like you say they have to be well constructed and its a good idea to get a few comments on the pins that give people a call to action to click on it.

There is a LOT of competition for jewelry on Pinterest and unless its an amazing piece that costs thousands of dollars most people wont be bothered to repin or pin it to their wish list boards. You are better off working with Pinterest influencers than just trying to get raw traffic. Depending on teh jewelry you offer you could get some influencers to share the products and repin them.

Pinterest removed the Repins counts from the pins.

Pinterest is the enemy.

Just my 2 cents :D

Yes they did and it sucks. Enemies are there to teach us and to be exploited or conquered :)

is there any free tools to automate niche relevant repin, posting from sites, following & unfollow?

I'm not sure about free tools and i dont know of anything that repins and does the other stuff or at least I have not used anything like that myself.

They recently changed this, you used to be able to see but now unless you have a business account and are looking at the analytics for each pin you wont see much.

Does Follow/Unfollow method like on instagram works on Pinterest as well?

And is it a good method for growing your accounts?

No it does not work as well. We all know that he method is not working that well on Instagram compared to how it was 2 - 3 years ago. Pinterest is even worse again. There is not a huge follow culture on Pinterest, its more about the pins than the people.

Hi @William702
1. What do you think about pumping the main account's pins by a thousand bots that constantly make repins?
2. It is necessary to make unique the images or I can stupidly parse the most successful pictures from Pinterest and post it again?
3. How do you feel about the hypothesis that Pinterest downgrade pins that are not saved on my website (JS widget), but the images directly upload on Pinteres (via browser, POST request or API)?

1) If you have the capacity and means to do it then yeah give it a try.
2) Yeah that's what repining is essentially. So yeah search for viral pins and repin/use those
3) I'm not going to speculate on that as I don't know enough about it.
