I'm starting this thread as I started a method thread on how to use Pinterest and specifically Pinterest group boards to make money. If you are interested in checking out that thread you can see it here

It has had a lot of replies so reading through the whole thing can seem a bit daunting but there is a lot of great info in there from all of the questions that have been asked. Its due to the fact I get a lot of general Pinterest questions there that I am starting this ask me anything thread for everyone's benefit that want o know and learn more about Pinterest in a general sense.

If you have a question about Pinterest feel free to ask and I will answer the best I can with my personal take on it. I'm no expert by any means. I have used Pinterest with a some success with promoting eCommerce products and other websites. I make a few thousand dollars a month just from selling some pins and invites to people. Back in the early days of Pinterest we were named one of the top ten shops using Pinterest to promote a brand by some big blogger which sent a lot of traffic and connections our way. if it was not for that person saying that I would not have connected with half of the people I did and would not know the things I do now so if anything that helped a lot and helped us achieve a level of knowledge closer to what they were eluding to in the post lol.

As I say I'm in no way an expert but I feel like a know a few things that if shared would benefit some people so ask away and I'll be happy to help.

My pleasure. I hope I can give you the info you need. It really depends on the product. As we all know the landing pages fro most ClickBank products are garbage so you will have to do some work first in creating good landing pages or articles mentioning the products. I think articles are nice and easy to share on Pinterest. Maybe some nice infographic giving info on the topic to build interest and give reasons as to why the product in the article will solve the issues or work along side the things mentioned in the infographic. I would not straight up share a ClickBank link as this might get your account noticed by Pinterest or reported by some sad idiot with nothing better to do. So my advice would be to create a nice article or landing page to share as opposed to a straight up affiliate link.

I have read many articles on how Pinterest traffic is some of the best when it comes to selling products online. Given how people feel about Pinterest and what they use it for it's the perfect platform for sharing products and getting traffic and sales. Instagram is for posting things you aspire to or want to do. Pinterest is for posting things you aspire to have so its a sellers dream. A photo or image of something needs to be magazine quality to do well though. people want to share things that look nice on their boards. People wont really repin something unless they want it or if it is spreading a message of some kind or shows their support of something. In my mind Pinterest traffic is organic traffic. If you are not using their ad system then any traffic is a result of someone just browsing Pinterest and following a pin of yours or that someone shared of yours so its pretty organic. In any case organic traffic where someone is searching for you will always be better than the "window shopper" type traffic of people generally browsing and coming across something.

How do you get in to big boards especially if you are just starting pinterest?

If you are just starting out you have a few options and i also recommend doing the following before getting started. Create 15+ boards. 15 is enough more is better. Add at least 15+ pins to each board. So lets say you you want to make a board about fancy shoes. Lets say you name the board "dress shoes" Once you have named the board and added a brief description like:

"Here are some of my favorite dress shoes from Pinterest. These are the best dress shoes I could find. Please feel free to contact me and ask to be a collaborator on this board and I will be happy to invite you so you can add your favorite dress shoes too. You can email me at blahblah@blah blah to request and invite"

Repeat this for other more specific boards pertaining to the niche you cover and fill out your profile. Yes it will take you about one hour but you will have a solid profile that NO one will suspect. Put an avatar of a dog up that's running on the beach or an old woman holding a baby and look like a real person instead of using a picture of a pretty girl. You will get way better results and way more replies when it comes to getting board invites.

To fill the boards with pins just do a search for Dress shoes and repin the top most pinned items. They are the sort of thing people will share, the more pins you share that others repin the more exposure your account will get and is suspect Pinterest's algorithms work like Facebook's in the way that the more a persons stuff is interacted with the more it is shown. It will take just a minute or two to repin a dozen or more good pins to a board that will make your board and subsequently your profile look legit.

Now that you have a good looking profile you can go out and get invited to boards. Go to Fiverr and buy access to some for $5 bucks. use a bunch of providers to get some. I have never done this as i have not needed to as I built mine up over time. However If i was starting today that would be the way i would get access to a bunch to begin with. Once you have a few you can then use my favorite method of asking people if they want to trade. Once you have 10 or 20 solid boards you can reach out to people and say stuff like

"Hi there I see you are a member of a bunch of great group boards for (insert niche) I am a member of a few too and was wondering if you would like to trade? I can invite you to these boards (list your boards you think they would like) and if you would like you could invite me to these boards (list their boards that you want) I'm not sure if you are familiar with inviting people to boards but its very easy. all you have to do is press the edit button when you are on a board and paste my name in there and that's it. Not every board is open to all members inviting but it will tell you if only the admin of a board can invite people so don't worry if it does not let you invite me to all of them. Any that it will allow you to invite me to would be great. If you have any questions at all please feel free to get back to me but if you don't want o then that's no problem. I just found your beautiful profile and boards and thought I would reach out. If you want to take a look at my profile and all of my boards feel free to go here (give pinterest profile list)Thanks for your time and I hope you have a great day."

I would advise following them first and waiting a day before sending them this message. If they dont get back to you dont pester them just move on to the next person. You can basically double your boards by doing this and make some great connections. I would also advise always offering to invite them to all of your boards or at least way more than you are asking for in return. this makes it a lot harder for them to turn it down. Another top tip is to be friendly and trustworthy, dont come across all untrustworthy. Always invite them first or offer to at the very least, that way they wont be worrying if you will invite them. If they dont get back to you or brush you off dont get all out of shape over it just move on to the next person. If they dont invite you back oh well just move on.

After just a few days you could have access to hundreds of really great boards. I find the best way to find boards is to look at other peoples profiles. if they are a member of a group board chances are they are a member of more so follow it back to their profile and if they do have a bunch reach out to them. Most people don't even know they can invite other people to boards so just reaching out to them and asking can be a great way to educate them and get something out of it in the process.

My pleasure. I'm glad that it helped. As for "how do you think the response rates would be" Can you be a little more specific on what you are promoting? Let's not forget that the majority of all of the users who use pinterest are women and the majority are probably between 30 and 50 years of age. So it all depends on what you are promoting. If it's something that typically does well with that demographic then there is no reason why you would not get a good response.

Not much I'm afraid. I have not used it but I have done some research on it and seen how it works. I know that it is giving some good ROI's but again that's all dependent on the product. I would not know how to best fund an ad account if you don't have any of the cards or payment methods they usually accept.

Hello, how to get traffic from pinterest? I tried it once but I don't get that with pins...

A pin needs to go semi viral for you to get any meaningful traffic from it. That said I would at least give a pin six months before judging if it is worth it or not as they take a long time to get established. It's like planting apple trees, if you are planting seeds its going to be a long time before you harvest anything meaningful.

That's sort of a how long is a piece of string question as it all depends on the products. If you want to reach out to me in a PM feel free but as a general rule the more the better. Get a few accounts up and running and use a tool like Tailwind or the app in my signature to schedule pins. I have 85 - 90 a day going out on most of my accounts and they do just fine. I pepper in viral pins that have nothing to with me in among my promotional pins and also include pins that show at the top of the search with tens of thousands of repins. This tells me its a popular pin and people like the content so it will get shared a lot by others and inevitably lead people back to my profile. A lot of exposure on Pinterest is done very subtly and so its not as though you can use the platform to just turn on a torrent of traffic when you feel like it. You do have to put in effort but its a very residual kind of traffic so work now tends to pay off later.

1) I`m in 6 group boards with 50K total followers with few collaborators 50-100. I pin maybe during week, 1 pin per group. And I see ZERO results, what is wrong? These boards are alive, because people pin there. Maybe I pin in wrong time? I pin when in Moscow is day, in usa maybe it is night.
2) How to find group boards? I use Pingroupie I check only with Last Crawn ( i think it is last time pinterest bot check board). There are groups with last crawn 1-2 years and few hours-days, I choose only with last few hr- days.I choose only with few collaborators 50-100-200, because I see boards with 1K collaborators and they have 10K followers, so maybe it is not worth it to choose spamy group boards. I commented owners pins on they profiles, asking to be invited. Also I PM them and only 1 answered me after few days. I sent maybe 50-100 request to be added to group boards. Maybe I do something wrong? How do I must find these group boards and do I must check by Pingroupie?

LOL figured you would ask these questions. I'll go over them all but the answers will be much the same as the answers I gave you in the Pinterest method thread but it is good that you asked them here and I'm glad you did as anyone reading will be able to see them and get a better understanding of it and thats what the thread is for.

As we discovered in the other thread you maybe have the wrong expectations of what traffic you will see and how fast you ill see it. A board with just 50 - 100 people in it is not very big at all. the fact you see 50k followers in total does not mean a whole bunch because that could mean 1 board with 40k and 5 boards with 2k each. Just because people pin there does not mean that tons of people are flooding to the boards to look, make a record of the pins and take a look a week or two later to see how active they are. All the pins could be from a handful of the members. Yes you are posting at the wrong times. if you are posting at noon in Moscow then its around midnight in the US. I guess it all depends on who you are targeting and what you are promoting.

If you are pinning just 2 or three items over and over then yes it can make it look spammy and people might avoid or report it but i have been doing this for a long time and never really had a problem. the more variation the better. you should not just pin things you want to promote. you should search for popular pins and share those too.

Try pinning more things and like I say do a search for the topic you are posting about and share and repin some random pins, find some popular pins and set them up to go out among the pins you promote with.

I don't really understand the questions, sorry. If you are posting on Pinterest for hoards of traffic to go to a site dont bother, its much more targeted than that. if you are promoting products and regular things then its a little easier and you might get better results.

1) Personally I dont worry about that. if its big and has a bunch of members and pins then its good enough.

3) If you have time to sort out 1 BILLION pics then yeah I would say that's better than 10 - 100 pics LOL (insert sarcasm here)

That's a good question. It has become a lot harder to gain followers on Pinterest now. its really just a numbers game over time. If you have a bot of some kind that can follow people for you then its worth it but if you have to do it manually you wont really see any results. The best way to get followers is to pin viral pins. If you do a search for any topic you will see pins that have been repined thousands of times, repin these or set them up to go out manually with something like tailwind. I get literally millions of impressions on some of the pins I have shared and they generate hundreds and sometimes thousands of repins every week. This means that lost of people are exposed to my profile and I get a few followers from it. I'll admit though its nothing to shout about but it's something. I'm going to try and run some ads soon to see if I can get any meaningful results from them. I'll report back to see if that helps at all.

The vast majority of people using Pinterest are older women so its not really the right demographic. Especially when it comes to people interacting with them, its normally young boys that comment and share that sort of stuff. So I would not say it's a niche that will not do that well.

I can say however with living in Las Vegas that the pot niche is alive and kicking. I have a lot of assets in this niche and do a lot of ORM work for two of the dispensaries in town so I would suggest concentrating on Twitter and Facebook for that niche. Pages and groups on Facebook do especially well and I then use Twitter to promote them which is working out great.
