We all have videos that we worked hard to create and invested time and $ to promote and we even manage to rank it for a while. then came the new YouTube algorithm and de-ranked those videos as soon as your traffic campaign ended.
why?
it's simple, during the promotion you did ALL the right things, you used Real Human retention views and maybe used the unlisted method or other to send high VPH traffic, or even trend the video with ultra/extreme fast views, gladly you did managed to rank it well at that point in time... but... soon after that since your video didn't had his OWN traffic sources it lost position as soon as the traffic stopped ... very sad.
anyway, i've found a way that can give some hope for those lost videos...
in my test i used 4 videos, my goal was to rank all 4 as high as i can in an extreme high search volume niches for short tail (2 words) key terms (a very difficult challenge)
all videos uploaded unlisted and got normal, fast, and ultra fast Views(while they are still unlisted for a full week) then i turn them to public (traffic still ON) and got instant first page ranking on top #1 to #5 positions for those terms, it was very impressing since it was an incredible challenge.
to make a long story short, after i stopped the traffic, all the 4 videos lost the top positions... to no positions. so i decided to try some stuff, and to track the process
start point:

i resumed traffic to 3 out of the 4 videos, normal speed 3 minutes retention, but that didn't do the trick, traffic alone just can't reindex my videos, needed something else... a simple edit of the title/description on each video
soon after that edit (matter of minutes)

and it's just changing almost in real time:

looking nice

oops, dropped in position, i went to edit again real quick

game is on

OK, you got the point, the edit is simple, i can add a word to the description and save, delete a word from the description and save (or the title) it's the same, that action will Force the Youtube index service to do a quick re-index for my videos, the new rank is also based on the current traffic at the reindex time, it will re-rank the video, and this can be done multiple time (maybe forever) and each time you may get a random position on 1st page...
wait, before re-editing again and again, when it's starts to move, let it allow some time for the final position.
note that vid 4 (with no traffic) and vid 3 with non-continuous traffic, didn't manage to rank, this is ONLY since at the point of the edit/re-index there was no traffic at all.
it will be nice to hear some feedback from members that manage to reproduce this trick
