Selling data to companies (Web Scraping)

Two years ago I started with Web Scraping, it was something like hobby. I created profile on freelancer and started there, in two years I had over 50 clients mostly small projects with low budget. In that two years I earned approx $3000. Since freelancer is full with scammers and projects with very low rates, I lost my motivation and give up. The positive side is that I got skills for web scrapping and a permanent client from USA which still pays me $100 monthly for some reports (It's really simply I just need to run my app every week to create it). So few months ago I got idea to open website where I would offer Web Scraping service. After finishing website I created adwords campaign with keywords like (web scraping,
web scraping excel, extract data from web, scrape website...). I spent there $60 and got approx 150 visitors. I included quote request form and live chat on my website. I got bad results, 15 request from which only one was serious but with unreal expectations. So I stopped with advertising.

Probably I made mistake with selected keywords or I missed something. Since I really enjoy to do Web Scraping, it's kinda fun creating tools for it, I now thinking about collecting big data and trying to sell it to companies. But I really don't have any idea what to sell, on example I can collect business data from yellowpages or any sort of companies directly from google, but I don't have idea who might be interested in it. Seems like I'm very bad when it comes to selling.

Do you want to get rich? Gather info about people, ANYTHING! I mean ANYTHING! When they go to shit, when they eat, sleep, where they work... and sell it
BUT in order this to work you cannot scrape just the web... you need to create something yours...

No need to sell the data, combine them and post on your own website, bring traffic to the site.

I tried that it's not easy most of them won't even respond on email. I didn't try contacting via phone because I'm not good in speaking. English is my second language. If you think it's that easy to find companies please come and work with me I'll give you 50% of profit and your job will be only finding companies willing to use my service.

Try posting a thread in https://www.blackhatworld.com/forums/joint-ventures.65/ section and see if it gets approved since you're newbie. You should clearly describe the nature of your job and your skills and specify the opportunities for whoever wants to work with you.

You also have an option to build your own site selling data and in this way you will make the buyer come to you. Have a look at statista.com for inspiration.

I know, it's not easy but keep trying outreach even if you get 0.1% response because that way you can get some work.

Other things you can do is, continue scraping some useful data and distributing that as Freebies. It will take time but they will find you.

I'd search all their name and address on Google and filter the one who doesn't have a local listing and offer them local listing service and upsell webdesign with hosting package.

Idea is great
But they r institute or ppl using heavy machines like mri scan etc etc ..so i guess they must b in google
and on random check (i did on 10..they are already in google with ther hospital or imaging center name and office number)
NO personal hosting page though
(but a site here does these things and it is mini google for india)

Then sell them webdesign+hosting but before starting it, build a fake portfolio site for random hospitals and use it in your proposal. It's definitely worth your time if you can signup even 5 hospitals with monthly recurring payment.

I think you may have a mental problem there.

But seriously, I'm a Software and Database Developer, I work in Big Data company and I completely understand you. Collecting and managing data is really fun, also if you do it in stealth mode using scrappers that should be designed in the way that nobody will notice adds to the fun.

From my experience, what you should be doing is making use of your data to draw some conclusions, join data from different sources, etc. Then think not about what data you can sell to other companies, but think about how can they use them, in the end, you don't want to sell them a bundle of data, you want to sell them the opportunity that will help them grow their revenue.

You need to get opt-in record data so scrapping the web won't cut it
