Denver is a great tech city. Lots of tech jobs there. People are really chill, everyone is high.What about job there? How about people, cause people in Illinois soooo enclosed, it really challenge to start friendship with someone here
I used to travel across the country for my job and I have been in a lot of US cities..
Los Angeles Pro - big enough to have everything. Few tall buildings, very spread out. Underrated food city. Very diverse. Within 1 hour of where I am, I can go to the beach, skiing in the mountains, go to the desert.
Con - Traffic. Public transportation not good unless you pick very carefully where you live and work.
San Francisco Pro - good food city. A big city but San Francisco is still small enough that you can drive from one end to the other in 15 minutes without traffic. Can take public transportation to most places.
Con - Extremely high cost of living. Housing stock either old and decrepit or super expensive. Aggressive homeless.
Miami Pro - a more european vibe if you're into that sort of thing. Beaches are fantastic. Lots of people from South America and Europe. Cost of living not bad to compared to other cities. No state income tax.
Con - Weather very humid. Even if it's not that warm, you'll be sweating like a pig. Not a good food town if you're into non-european or southa american food. The entire region is flat. No mountains.
New York Pro - Much more stuff to do at night. One of the world's financial hubs. Much better public transportation than most large US cities. Excellent food city if you don't mind paying for it.
Cons - Loud, smelly, crowded 24/7. Some people like it this way, but it sucked for me. Weather can get nasty. Super expensive. A lunch of Chicken Soup, bread, and diet coke...$40. A 600 sq ft apartment in a good location = $4000+/mo easily.
Dallas Pro - Lower cost of living. Big and spread out like Los Angeles. American Airline hub so cheap flights in and out. No state income tax. Economy better than places like California.
Con - Terrible public transportation. Bad traffic and drivers are maniacs. Weather extremely hot during summer.

And Colorado Springs, where you can get your daily dose of religious intolerance and bigotry. Spent time living in Colorado, but got out when the fundys started getting really weird.
It all depends what you're after. If it is about quality of life (cheap living, easy commutes, etc.) look to a college town. Tier II cities (Nashville, Portland - either Portland, Richmond, Ashville, Austin, etc.) don't have the headaches of the bigger cities and are still good living.
But, if you've got the option, why the US? We're in free fall and trying to get out of the country, why come in?

I went from Ukraine man, there is no any opportunities to grow. Regardless I made really decent money for my country but it was like you got in to a swamp, living mediocre life. I don't want to spend my life for it and then when I get 35 y.o. start to regret about what I didn't. So I decided you would rather get try and might fail than regret all the rest of my life. And btw for now the war is going in Ukraine and army tries to involve me in it
I have so common hobbies. I like to work out in the gym, I played online poker until came to the US
, watching youtube, play FIFA. Usually I spend my spare time to make additional $, so I do freelance jobs (creating apps).I'm considering to make at least 60k net profit and grow
Wether isn't a decisive point for me, just only one I don't like snow and rain.
I'm not a party guy, I would rather to work or chill in cozy ambience with my friends

You are in the middle of Miami and Ft Lauderdale there's plenty of job opportunities but it might not be cheaper than where you are at now.
Also there's a ton of things to do at any time of the day. Traveling is cheap due to Ft Lauderdale and Miami air port being main airports. Also cruises are super cheap.

Kalamazoo - MI, 2 hours away from Chicago (Amtrak), 1 hour away from Grand Rapids. It is calm, budget-friendly, it has this fantastic blues festival once a year. Lived there for 14 months before moving to Brazil.
