THIS IS DRIVING ME NUTS - Ranking without words

ok, i am really curious now. was there an update or something like that in the google algorithm? i mean i have now LOTS of pages which rank top positions for some keywords in the 5-10 range (no, they are not easy keywords, 2€ ppc keywords and there`s some competition going on) and they don't even have 1 word written! it's just the exact-match sub to my main keyword and these are just pages i prepared because i wanted to write something usefull later.

example: website.xyz/hot-topic/hot-topic-for-christmas

the funny thing is, that "hot topic for christmas" outranks "hot topic" even though hot topic has like 1000 words, pictures, on page seo all that stuff.

Next funny thing is that in the past 2 weeks those keywords kept on rising, because they had "click-through-rate".

I just dont understand google anymore <.< how the fuck is a blank page ranking better than my content pages?

Because of the sheer size of the domain that you are competing against. Plus that page might have actual backlinks that you do not have. And not that 1000 words is a massive amount of content or anything. Don't expect to rank without backlinks. People you are competing against know very well what they are doing.

i'm talking here about my own website. the blank page is my own page as well as my content pages. it is just strange that a sub-sub blank page is ranking better than my article. (blank sub pages are 1 position ahead of the articles).

Ah so... that's just a Google fluke then. It's trying to find a placement for it in Serps. I presume the site is still pretty new, so there will be brutal fluctuations for the next couple months. Google is a retard.

There are dozens of smaller updates every week, it's impossible anymore to even try and isolate them, because shit changes again until you get some results. Unless you are aware of any massive mistake that you made, then it's just best to wait it out and let it all age.
