Any ideas to collect leads (for local clients)

Hi,
Just asking if some one here have ideas or can send me a link for a thread speaking about ideas to collect good leads from my local market
I am planning to sell some services related to web apps/sites , social media services & SEO

Some companies just making surveys via phone and promise with some gifts and so on.
Personally I didn't like this idea, and then I decide to make some free services to collect the needed huge amount of leads

Finally I decide to write here to ask experienced ppl

To get a lead, you have to give something valuable. I usually install a popup. After they read 80% of my website the pop up shows up. That usually means they are interested in the content (services) so you get high quality leads. But you have to give something away m8. Nobody will give their information for free or your services must be so good ppl are willing to die for it.

this way is also online, in local markets there is some other tools/ideas that will get some new users (for example those who are not interesting in internet and surfing/reading articles)!

Years back I even went door to door to HUNDREDS of small businesses handing out my business card and got relatively few nibbles. Either go digital or use the old friends of friends method, asking your FB friends if they know anybody who runs a local business.

Just because you did b2b wrong doesnt mean it doesn't work. Largely so marketers aren't type A personalities so cold prospecting isn't suited towards them, doesnt meant they don't work.
Going b2b will drum up business faster than any method aside from spending money on old which will run you around $100+ per qualified lead if the cpc is 15-25.
Just handing out business cards doesnt cut it for b2b - you have to ask tough questions designed to elicit a conversation. If that doesnt work you need to collect an email and create a pipeline database. In IM 90%+ will never convert and that's the same with any marketing method, so why not build a follow-up database? The fortune's in the follow up.

I know this because I cold call and go b2b for sales. I've also written one of the top articles online for f2f, and will be publishing one of the top cold calling articles with over 100 scripts in it. I revel in cold prospecting and actually considers creating some videos of me going b2b to sell IM using the survey method.

But getting back to the OP, you must offer a lead magnet and a popup offer for a free website audit. Tony Robbins teaches that you have to model your role models and the successful people in your niche if you are to be successful too. Find the top dogs and see how they attract business (usually a free site audit, a how-to lead magnet, or lead generation consultation).

Pop ups are going to get trickier Google has already said they are targeting them along with excessive ads ... call to action is a better long term growth strategy

I agree cold calling is dead (dying) even when it is a very specific niche in a specific market that only you and few people service it is hard to translate ... I have had loads of businesses that should refer to me say they will and I get very little. So I appeal to the customer directly and try to capture them at a point they are researching to buy. The only way B2B cold calling works if they NEED you and if they are ahead of you in the buying cycle AND then you have to offer them something which can be hard to quantify. I would spend my energy trying to target the customer directly at the right point in the conversion cycle.

Since I switched from targeting, following up and managing business relations to the customer at the right point in their internet search my sales tripled.

Each niche is different but I find B2B is dying (I have done it for 25 years). Businesses are too busy, too forgetful and too focused on their own needs, unless as I mentioned they NEED you and that is specific products or services.

You hit up 60 business a day and you will sell something - unless you're not asking questions and for their business. Have a good follow up process and you can triple your business. Learn to ask for referrals to get off of cold prospecting, and or appeal to consumers at different parts of the buying cycle.

It's true that cold calling will only help you sell those that are ready to buy, but that's no different than what PPC does - the only difference is you're spending your money as opposed to your time which is the currency of cold prospecting. Even with PPC you have to have a solid follow up process so you have the same requirements as you would with cold prospecting.

Also, I highly recommend (if you're in the states) to attend the top four local networking group types:
1. Meet up groups
2. LinkedIn groups
3. Network After Work (NAW)
4. BNI

You can structure 1-2 networking events a week and follow up with everyone on Linkedin - THEN hit them up for a meeting at a coffeehouse. This is a more preferable strategy than cold messaging on LinkedIn!

While you're at the networking events seek out shoulder niche freelancers like content developers/writers, web designers etc. that don't do SEO or PPC. You can open exponentially increase your chances of obtaining referrals by networking this way.

Lastly, check out Sales Scripter for some cold calling and emailing scripts and templates. Super helpful material for understanding SALES which is many IM'ers shortfall...

For the specific selling of SEO services I agree with The Curator my prior post was more general B2B. If you are trying to sell SEO there is a ton of business BUT you have to make sure it is the right business for you with the right budget and long term strategy so you can build you brand as well and keep getting referrals. You meet one group and suck on the first person then forget the whole group ... they need to have the money to get backlinks, give you time to laser focus keywords, etc

same old bloggospherebullshit of guys that are in non-competitive markets or have not clue about SEO at all.

I can add 57 additional methods, that will help you get crap leads, if you don get traffic at all. and have you get traffic? you beat the competition. how you do that? you get stronger links then them.

I ad one stage will turn into that "bullshitmonster", when I create my first DA50 site. and I can spread the "just build and they will come" crap all day.
