I'm considering starting a DTG T-shirt online store soon & I was considering using Printful for all my printing because it's suppose to be the best on Shopify but I just came across this other company also compatible with Shopify called Scalable Press.
https://scalablepress.com

They promise to beat any prices & have very low prices for their products they print on demand with no minimum orders. I'm curious if anyone on BHW has used this service & care to leave reviews, sharing pros & cons. Also how is the quality of their short sleeve shirts, how is the print quality? Are there any issues you've ran into using ScalablePress with Shopify?

Hey! I used Scalable Press on one of my launches. Very fast and great customer support but DTG print quality was pretty low. I would honestly go for Printful. Better packaging and the prints are amazing even with the higher costs. I have been out of the e commerce space for a while and would love to help out on your store if that would be possible. PM me and I'd love to help out and talk :)

How did you drive traffic to your store?

I have also used Scalable Press DTG, and although I was satisfied with the cost and the quality of the shirt. I believe that screenprinting will look better and I'm trying to work on some ways I can get shirts in bulk to get the costs down.

Hi FOAM - I use Scaleable Press all the time for my Shopify site and would give them an 8.5 out of 10 stars if I could rate them. I haven't run into any major issues yet (almost 2 years). The only issue I've ever had were a couple of slow orders. And the slow orders are usually when the DTG product doesn't pass quality control so they resubmit the work order. They've been working hard to scale their operations and seem to be progressing well. I've been able to fully automate my site and it works perfectly with ScaleablePress. The site is MeepleShirts.com if you're interested in seeing it. Hope that helps and LMK if you have any questions and I'll try to help where possible! Cheers!

I am a teen and it was for a good cause so mainly just submitted my story to newspapers around me and got some sales that way. Instagram was also pretty successful along with a good affiliate program

Hey Justin!
Would you be free to talk privately?

Thanks for all the replies, I forgot to mention that I was reading reviews found on Google & a lot of people we're complaining about the product taking a long time to ship, also issues with printing on wrong shirts. Have any of you experienced longer shipping time then 2 weeks?

Thank for your review on Scalable Press, I may try them out and see for myself before deciding to go with printful.

What makes the prints so low in quality, do they fade fast, peel easily, etc. I'm still strongly considering Printful but I think I'll give Scalable a try for a month during my launch & give some good deals. I appreciate you wanting to help & honestly I may need a partner to help but I couldn't help but notice that you're still a teen. No offense but I don't think you'd be a good fit for the crowd I'm focusing on, i haven't took any steps into opening yet. Just been researching past few months. I did start a instagram to start collecting followers organically & currently at 150 followers in a little less then a month.

ScalablePress Shipping times:
I have had some products take longer to ship. However, they've recently added an arsenal of DTG printers and have a goal of 1-2 day turnaround (sometimes they get it sometimes they don't). I plan on about 5 business days turnaround and communicate with customers that we print on demand so to expect a few extra days. (Amazon has trained people to expect 2-day shipping... so I find that I really need to set customer expectations accordingly)

FWIW, You can see their current turnaround times here: scalablepress (dot) com/status (good to know before you do a big promo or something)

Regarding printing on wrong shirts:
They will only print on a different shirt if you have your settings configured to print on a 'backup' brand if your usual choice is currently not in stock. I think you have to manually turn that off.

Regarding print quality:
If you provide quality artwork you shouldn't have any issues. I have a few t-shirts that are going on 2 years old and are still good. Again, It's important to make sure the artwork is good to start with.

I've only had a few orders get messed up in the past few years and every time, ScaleablePress made sure to credit my account and make things right (which I, in turn, reciprocated to the customer). As long as I communicated with ScaleablePress and the customer things worked out great.

You'll probably run into issues no matter which company you choose.

The bottom line for me is pricing. I wanted to price my shirts in a range of what I myself would pay for (about $20) and still make at least a $10 profit. I looked at several other print on demand companies and none of them could come close to the pricing I get with ScaleablePress.

Cheers,

Justin

Thanks Justin, this clears up a lot of my worries. I'll definitely be giving them a try in the next month or so. As for the graphics being printed I'll be paying artist for my designs & ordering test shirts before sending out to customers. I'm aware there will always be mistakes, the reviews I read on Google just seemed really bad, possibly Scalable has really stepped their game up since.

If you don't mind me asking which shirt do you print on that has the highest quality?

No problem! I did a lot of research and testing back in the day and I don't remember all the reasons... but I ended up going with the Next Level Fitted Crew 3600 for men's tees. They work great for DTG and my customers really seem to like them. For women's tees I use either the NextLevel Boyfriend Tee 3900 or the Bella Ladies Favorite Tee 6004. (these ladies tees seem to size a little small... so if a woman usually wears a small I'd recommend a medium). The sizing has probably been my biggest challenge. I would probably increase my sales if I had better sizing information on my site.
