Ranking with little to no backlinks??

I,m ranking for a kw in the top 5 of a niche. But I see other sites ranking higher with little to no backlinks and minimal optimization for the kw.

Can anybody explain to me how this is possible?

I think he is very good in on page. Also he brought the real traffic from various ways through the social media, paid ads. It will give the better result in search engine.

Used Ahrefs to dig but I know ppl cn hid their pbns

If domain authority is higher than yours domain then that domain other pages also dominate from yours domain other pages.

High authority site pages always rank without any backlink. Domain power big factor for ranking.

There could be a lot of hidden PBN domains linked to that site.

OP most of the sites know use PBNs which blocks all big crawlers. They do have links but you cant see them.

Yesterday I came across a educational domain which shows zero links on majestic and ahrefs. It immediately got my attention because I know that domain is old as heck. Turns out they block both those backlink services somehow, probably on a firewall level because nothing shows up on robots.txt.

@G03 It's possible if the keyword has low competition. I've also ranked for a 1000 MS #7 without any backlink at all, not a social share/like, nada. Just on-page.

In your case though, the situation might be different.
