Hello,

I currently have a client that is paying me $400 for a month to help him with his FB ads. He has a budget of $2k/month. I am going to go though what I have been doing and hopefully you can give me some feedback and learn off what I am doing.

About the App- Its a app for making new friends in new cities.

Currently:

I have made a blog for his website which I am going to be writing articles and promoting that content via the fb engagement boost. I have learned that instead of just throwing up a link to download that if you provide content that your PPE (price per engagement) will be MUCH lower. Within the Blog, I have several hyperlinks that link to his app downloads

I have also ran 2 ad sets for app installs. One for women (a) and men (b)

For the women, I have targeted women aged 23-33 who just recently graduated from college or attending grad school in New York/Chicago and whom also like to brunch and like starbucks :) and make anywhere between 30k-100k

For the men, I have targeted the same but instead of brunch and starbucks, that like sports/sporting events. For income 30k-150k

I am running these two at $10/day for 4 days to see how well they do and then depending on the data I get back to increase the budget 5x.

Will put screen shots of the data in days to come.

QUESTION: Does anyone know what a good price per install is? Currently his PPI is ~3USD. I think that is a tad bit expensive but im not sure.

Best,

Ethan

Good luck on your journey. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
Personally I like the $2.50 mark when I'm downloading apps
How long would you say is a good amount of time to leave an ad running to get its full testing/information?

I just ran two ads and I stopped them after a day because they only gave me one app each download and I spent $20. So around ~$10 :/ I am about to do another update. Stay posted

So today after one day I saw both my ads only had one conversion and I spent ~10 on each... which is not good.

I redid the ads for men and women and changed the criteria to just college grads/ people in grad school and took out people who likes starbucks/brunch/sports ect ect. because maybe i was being too specific. I also changed the picture so we will see how well it does.

My blog post is doing decent. Right now I have it set at $10/day, I have 30 engagements with the blog so far and am paying around .34 per engagement.

Will update. The best this guy has done is around $3 per conversion. So I believe with enough A/B testing that I can get it to around $1-2

Good lucky buddy. I also have few months experience in app development (android app instead of iOS).
I will follow you & wish you all the best!

Ugh! So Im getting the same result! Spent another $10 with 1 conversion on the female and another $10 for male with 0 installs. I am going to try fb where it tests two ads at once. I am spending $160 to test 2 adsets. So $80 each. I have included a carousel of pictures with some Emojis to make it more playful. Will update soon. I am also still targeting new york and chicago, and people aged 22-29 years old that consider themselves millennials (which they are haha)

Will post updates in 3 days once they complete. Hopefully its not a complete waste of money. I want to be around ~$1-2 per conversion because once they are in the app they get 3 free days and then I charge them $30/month.

Alright,

So the ad that I just mentioned above was costing me $20/app install :/ I think I am being way too detailed in my app description. So I am just doing one line with the tag line "#1 Free App For Meeting New Friends" and an install feature. So we will see how well that one does. I focused mainly in the Chicago area and people who are single that like the chicago cubs/blackhawks/bulls that make anywhere between 40k-100k. Will keep you guys posted.

Best,

E

Alright, so i decided to pay for some reviews as his app has a 2/5 stars. Im going to boost it up to 4-4.5/5 and start up again. I have a feeling im doing the right targeting with the right pictures just not converting into installs because the consumer might be hesitant with the reviews. Will update once reviews are up and app is at a 4/5 rating.

Have you tried Apple Search Ads? The CPA's are a little better on there at the moment as it's not as competitive

I have not, will check into it. Thanks.

So today I now have a 4/5 star rating so I am trying again. I have made an ad that is targeting single people aged 21-31 and that have recently just graduated college or are in grad school. I have a $10/day to see how well it performs. I am adjusting to see how many link clicks I can get to see how well my ad is getting people to click. I will run the exact same ad with mobile installs once I know which adset is doing the best and which pictures. Will update after a couple days of the ads running. I have spent over $70dollars with only 5 mobile installs :( so hopefully this will pick up!

Alright guys,

So i started to just do link clicks to see and so far its looking pretty good. Its the highest fequency ive seen with 2.26 even though im seeing a 3.34/link click. Will keep you posted. Does anyone know what a good frequency is? I am usually around a 1.01-1.04 for my other ads.

Older people tend to install apps more dont target ages and specific location only target intrests and country because they are for more testing
Test US men/women
Intrests
Age 18-65
No behavior
Leave that alone

My app is for meeting new people in big cities. Thanks for the advice though.

Alright! So I just boosted my app to 3.5/5 stars. One guy is taking forever but it should go up to at least 4 stars. I am targeting people who like tinder and bumble (two very popular dating apps in the USA) I also getting very detailed and doing single people that like going to outside activies such as bars, concerts, music venues ect ect) I did one that was link clicks to see if the ad works itself and im doing app installs on the other. So I will update once those two ad sets finish in 3 days. Sorry I havent uploaded.. been hectic and busy week.

Best,

E

ok. So none of those ads converted either. I stopped all the ads and I am going to try to do video as those seem to convert a lot better.

I will include screen shots in the next posting of my spend vs app downloads
