ORM in 2016 - A Helpful Guide (Examples, 6 month test, tricks, and more!)

Hi

Are SAPE links efficient for ORM ? I plan to rent a few hundres in order to push parasite sites hoping that they will outrank the bad press articles...

Thank you in advance for your help

Hi

Are SAPE links efficient for ORM ?

I haven't used SAPE links in years. I always would rather spend my money (and clients' money) on permanent results rather than something that will lose value immediately upon canceling the subscription.

Thank you for your answer.

I like Sape links because of the fact that they are not permanent. Most of clients are genuine and fair. But some are not. If they don't pay, I like having the possibility to remove part of the links I have built for them. It is a question of covering my a**.

My question is concerning the content for ORM. Going by a post on here from 2012 which basically said create social accounts and web 2.0's then linked those all together, a few weeks and SERP page 1 was all clear. Then I've seen ORM strategies that emphasize quality handwritten (or perhaps even spun / autoblog) content and profiles to wash SERP page 1.

Is there any best method to start with?

2012's advice should not even be considered. If someone was giving advice in 2012, that means it probably was effective in 2010. Quality content will always win. If you want long term results, you have to be willing to invest. That is truly what sets apart people who can get results and people who claim to get results.

Loved reading every post of this thread! Thank you so much. Any chance of a 2018 update?

Also, what advice would you give to someone looking to learn ORM? I would love to do this!

Glad you enjoyed it! I haven't wrote up another one for 2017 or 2018 but let me give it some thought and see if I want to add some more.

@ritafairclough

ORM is way more fun than 'normal' SEO. Using Parasite articles, you get to use old-school methods that would normally get your money site banned.

I can create cheap PBNs social signals and blast the hell out of them and no penalties. I get results 99% of the time, and it is THE coolest job of all the SEO work (for me anyway).

How do I do it? Well. I am a great writer (honest), so Articles are always well received, I then rank them on parasites, and also share a Reddit post to suitable subreddit. Do I discuss the client? NO WAY. That will invite more bad reviews.

One of the fun aspects is creating videos for YouTube. You can go wild andn they nearly always rank.

ORM makes me look forward to work. The only thing that sucks is that I might be helping out questionable characters at times.

Hello @BHopkins,

This is really helpful article. Thanks for writing this up. I know it's old thread but wanted to ask you one quick question.

What will you recommend to rank social media pages on first pages for brand keyword?

For our brand only linkedin and YouTube are ranking on first page. Facebook is ranking on 2nd page, Insta is on 3rd page and twitter is nowhere.

All of accounts are super active and high engagements (Likes/comments from real users).

What could be the reasons?

I tried everything I can think of like linking to all social networks from site footer, links to social networks from business profiles & more.

Now I'm out of ideas here.

Are you getting branded searches? I would suggest two ways of doing that.

1. Search and click. Have people search and click Brand Name and Brand Name + LinkedIn. That will give Google the signs that people are truly searching for you brand as well as the social profiles. That will pull them up in the search results. Mike Munter is the best I know for this work.

2. Industry Expertise/Authority Creation/Thought Leadership. This is a service that we provide for clients. The goal is to help establish them as experts which creates additional search volume for their name and business. For example, is you see me on a webinar, interview, speaking panel or something like that, you're going to search "Brandon Hopkins" or "Brandon Hopkins DiamondLinks" or whatever combination looking for me. That is a signal to Google as well. The more signals of authority and search intent, the better.

Here is a screenshot showing what happened after I spoke at two events that were totally unrelated to online marketing.

Those spikes in website traffic were from search volume. The second one had a link from the speaker panel, but there were only a few actual referrals from that website.

Even in 4 years the guide is still useful. Very accurate and informative, thanks! It may be useful for all serm/orm managers and hidden marketers.
