alt code

My Magento site has 5,000 images; some with alt tags and some without. Does anyone know an extension that can automatically update the images with an alt tag from the image name, image post, etc. Whatever works to auto pull the image data into the alt tag. Thanks!

I was wondering, is using alt codes like ► or ★ instead of the usual "-" bad to use in seo titles to show in search results? I noticed some niche websites are using this to stand out. Are there any negatives to this? Thank you
