YouTube New Comment System Discussion!

This really make me scared, i just make a living from this around 1 month and now the system changed, OMG

Ok, so I have an update guys and it's not a good one:
So, they are basing these comments on your G+ friends. If you have G+, it will show your friends and circles comments first. They are trying to go for relevancy, showing you people you know or who have similar intrests to you. Now, if you don't have G+ or don't have any friends on G+, I'm still not sure how they rank it then, or if you're not logged in, that's just all I've figured out so far. Will keep you guys posted.

Good thing noone has any G+ friends.

Thanks for the update guys. I also see that comments from verified names go to the top. I click on some of these channels and they don't even have many subs so I'm guessing is not too hard to get a verified name. Here's what you will need in order to get a verified name:

"Channels with verified names

Verification badges

help visually confirm the authenticity of a YouTube channel. When you find the badge a channel for a popular celebrity or business, you can be sure that the channel actually belongs to them. The verification checkmark only appears to the right of the channel name, and "Verified name" appears in a popup if you point your cursor at it.

How do I get a verified name for my channel?

YouTube Channels get the verified name checkmark if they are linked to a verified Google+ Page or Profile. Learn more about linking your Channel with a Google identity.
Verification for Google+ is available to a wide range of businesses and organizations, with some requirements for eligibility:

  • Your Google+ page must be authorized by your commercial entity, organization, brand, or product.
  • Your Google+ page must contain a link to your organization's website. Your organization's website must connect to your Google+ page, by adding the Google+ badge or by adding a snippet of code.
  • Your Google+ page must already have a meaningful number of followers.
If you have a YouTube partner manager, contact them to request name verification.

Yes according to them :

Add URLs. You can add a URL to your comment. It will show as a link. YouTube video URLs will show in the comment as a link using the title of the video

That's cool, let's hope that the url won't get flagged too fast.

Again, according to them :

  • Comments you care about show first. You'll see comments at the top of the list from people in your https://support.google.com/plus/answer/1047805, from creators, and from popular personalities. Comments with many likes and replies will rank highly as well. Choose Newest First to see the most recent comments instead. Replies are threaded (like Gmail) so you can easily follow conversations.

BUT !
Remember, not all people viewing the video are logged in.
This update was made in order to popularize Google Plus, popular video are often seen by people who don't care about it so they've no users in their circles at all.
Now we can still spam, they won't "really" give a fuck until a certain percentage of G+ users.
The problem is that in the long run this can be really annoying because there will be more people using G+, so more circles, and more relevance, time will play against us, that's for sure.

Well, then it'll takes a certain amount of time, this is not negligible, much more time that creating an account => commenting => upvoting this comment.
I don't what you plan to do with the verified name, but according to them you need a link to your "organization's website", if you plan to spam, you'll need to be sure that you will be able to recreate an account with the same link... If you're saying that there's some shitty channels with verified names, then someone need to tell us if it is easy (or not) to create it...

Otherwise, I still have some unanswered questions...

Why some legit comments are getting automatically flagged ?
I'm sure of that, I've a video with many views and some legit comments go to "spam".
By this I mean "how does the new spam detection system blacklist the comments" ?

Thank you for your answers guys.

I hear you. I checked a few verified names and some of them had 20 - 100 subs, and their comment was on top (on popular videos). I don't know how hard it is to get a verified name, but if you think about it. You can make tons of cash by putting comments on top with these accounts (if you're smart about). Even if it is a bit complicated to get name verified. It would probably be worth it.

Yeah. The account that you are going to use for commenting should be a little popular. Means have uploaded videos that has some views and have some friends on your circle. But i found a workaround on this. Im still testing it though to make sure it will work on accounts that has not a single friends or videos uploaded.

This is why I just love this forum... : ) Let's get to work!

You guys that are saying this new commenting systems sucks---are you smoking crack? You can post LIVE links now!!! I have so many verified YouTube accounts that have videos on them, so this is especially beneficial for me. I already have at least ten ideas on how I'm going to monetize this system. If you can't see the potential in this, you're blind.

Yeah live links will help a lot!
Mmm... Would you mind if I ask you: How hard is it to get a verified account?

Haven't you seen those accounts that have a little check mark right next to the name.

Whats the difference of verified account from the normal account?

I havent notice that. But i notice those checkmark on facebook pages.

Thanks

It's certainly an added benefit, with minimizing spam for the short term plus using Live links.
It means nothing has changed completely, YT like every other online beast caters most to the already developed celebrities, this update still makes sure their shitty opinions matter most.

yea they are integrating Google+ a bit too much, they want to push social media to users...quite the irony

yt comment ranking.png

Nah!!.. you don't need verified account or google+ account to get the top comments. :D

Are you sure it isn't linked to a google+ account? I could swear before i couldn't post comments without it being linked...

From what I understand, this is just one more step into forcing people to link a Gpage to their channel because without a Gpage, you can not comment on videos.

Just what I was thinking.

Youtube = Popular

G+= Not Popular

Solution?

Force People to use G+ if they want to use Youtube.

Fair strategy really.
