Youtube is testing.. hiding the dislike count

Give it a month lol then everything will be back to normal, people will protest on twitter claiming it's a violation of their right to vote. Which i guess it technically is.
 
this is going to be a huge fail for youtube and huge win for everyone else

what will happen to the campaigns of popular youtubers asking to dislike their video, this was a great engagement source.
I think youtube is bringing this just to hide the dislikes that it receives on every youtube rewind videos every damn year.
 
[official] YouTube has announced that it’ll be hiding public dislike counts on videos across its site, starting today.
YouTube says the platform wants to curb "creator harassment" by hiding the dislike count. Recently almost all videos published on the White House channel received far more dislikes than likes.

As a user, I don't like that idea because when they are long videos, dislikes often give you an idea of how bad the video is.

But from the creator point of view it is good because the video will be able to be positioned better

Or if you see that your dislike is not showing up, you’ll most likely stop disliking videos in the future.
 
Yes, this will definitely reduce "creator harassment" as mentioned above. All the downvoting campaigns would be gone.

This is exactly similar to ignoring the bad links in SEO, rather than penalizing, so that nobody can run a link spam campaign to hurt the SEO of a site.

Of course, this not being SEO, this opens up the road to create all sorts of video without the fear of being dressed down publicly. Even though one can comment negatively, most lazy/busy readers will not have time for so much.

Good for creators who are suffering from downvoting campaigns. But from viewer's perspective, it's not a good move.
 
There will always be a way to dislike.
People respond with the tweet "RATIO" like they do on Twitter so expect that in the comments of videos.
And when comments are hidden people will make response video with the title "RATIO".
 
I noticed a lot of Covid-related videos on Youtube get a lot of dislikes. I think that may be reason why they're trying to implement this.
 
Yes, I also received an email from youtube a few days back.
I think youtube is doing all steps to destroy their business.
I dont like this step as well. Only uploaded users can see number of private dislikes.
