YouTube is lowering the barrier for monetization

Seems the original poster was not wrong, just worded it wrong.

The post heading should be YouTube lowering monitisation for affiliates, not AdSense.

However it's stil monitisation regardless.

Yes, people got that wrong but hopefully it will be pulled down completely in the future.

Apparently there's a lot of misinformation about the new update. This update only gives access to other form of monetisation like super thanks and others
The normal ad sharing monetisation requirements still remains the same.
It seems that this update will benefit small streamers more.

Adapting to the market and opportunitys/threats of AI

This. People had the misconception that it was about making money from ads. Not a "big" update as they exaggerate, basically nothing.

Youtube is feeling competitive. If users don't continue uploading more videos to the platform, there won't be anyone watching anymore. They should lower barriers to encourage everyone to make money together.

The real monetization is still 1000 subs and 4K watch hours or 10M shorts views. The 500 subs and 3K watch hours is YPP Lite, it is not real monetization, you won't earn from ad revenue with that, you will only get access to tipping tools like Super Thanks, Super Chat, and Super Stickers, subscription tools like channel memberships, and the ability to promote their own merch with YouTube Shopping. You still need the 1000 subs and 4K watch hours to earn from advert revenue.
u watched the same video which i saw on YT lol , he calls this "YPP LITE"

Rumble is taking chunks out of YouTube at the moment
Twitters going to monetize video soon.
Both are right of centre - I know who I want to make a profit and it isn't those fairy's at google.
Rumble makes you money from first view

Twitter just became a very serious competitor, especially with the anti-censorship policies.
YouTube is trying hard to retain its dominance.

It is generally good for all the creators since competition between platforms would definitely benefit them more.

I just saw on the internet that

YouTube is lowering the barrier to be eligible for its monetization program

The new conditions to be qualified for the partner program are:

  • Having 500 subscribers;
  • 3 public uploads in the last 90 days;
  • and either 3,000 watch hours in the past year or 3 million Shorts views in the last 90 days.

What do you guys think about this change?

That's great news.

YouTube is applying this new eligibility criteria in the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea only for now.

But to show ads the requirements are same as earlier. To make money, you need lot of views anyway.
