Youtube is down and no reaction from the official Youtube account yet.

I repeat : since May 2019 they haven't gotten it right. Whatever they did back then was a major league fuckup.

Youtube has been a stupid platform for years.

1. They base their operations in a high cost area
2. They don't know how to properly monetize the platform.

Video is very expensive to stream and store. They spend billions of U$ so that idiots of all sorts can post stupid videos of all sorts.

The useful stuff in youtube could be easily sold at udemy for much more profit.

Overall youtube is as dumb and wasteful as they come.

Paid ads glitching with The Default YouTube promotional unskipple ad... I guess someone flipped a wrong 32 bit variable to 16 bit while experiencong depression today

I think companies like Google just got lucky, most of their businesses decisions do not make any sense at all.

If you are going to have a U.S. headquarters pick Texas. If you are going to have a European headquarters as well pick Romania. If you are going to have ads allow everything that is legal in the jurisdiction of the targeted location. If you already have a monopoly like YouTube has, there is no need to input your personal viewpoints when the rest of the world is not a hive mind. Lots of demonetized content on YouTube has sponsors which debunks Google's claims about not advertiser friendly.

It wasn't just Youtube, but Google Play too apparently. You could download apps, but they didn't install. It's fixed now though.

They demonetize lots of content, and ban certain types of ads even if content and ads are legal.

I think indeed their ad revenue went through the roof but their search quality dropped a lot.

If they made 100% of their search into ads, they'd profit billions for one or two quarters, then they'd die. This is an extreme.

What they're doing is making X% into ads and measuring how much shit people will tolerate.
