Makes sense. Is it possible to buy traffic to the video and then add ads once it is getting more traffic?

if it was that easy to steal from google, everyone would do it. Basically if you get no conversions from the ads, it will show, and before you get paid out anything meaningful, you would get banned from adsense or just more likely not get paid for the views.
You get paid from adsense through conversions essentially.
Think of it like this- if the people watching your video wouldn't click on things in your description, and buy/convert whatever offers you have in the description, youtube wouldn't pay money for your viewers either. They would never do that to their advertisers- it's their business to make sure the people paying for ads are getting what they pay for!
Use those channels, monetized channels are worth bank. Go for a niche like finance or marketing. Don't rely on adsense- try and sell things like doing affiliate marketing and building an email list through youtube videos.
If you think about it, youtube is the best way to attract life long customers. They get to know you or your products through your channel. Don't abuse it- won't do you any good.
