I work with more then 5 tools but question is wrong. There is a lot of categories of SEO tools.

IM is a busines for many and as you know, businesses have expenses,; SEO is no different!

If you want to compete with the Big Dawgs, many of these tools are essential.

In other words, without them you have ZERO chance of outranking your competitors.
