I can definitely say that Ukescuba knows his sh*t. Joomla isn't any alien programming language, it's an abstraction built on top of PHP. It's basically a way of arranging views on a page, with each view being a pipe, and piping content through each view - I know that Ukescuba will correct me if I'm missing something here. The upshot is that it's extrememly flexible, powerful, and blackhattedly automatable.
Your thoughts on joomla..?

could it be that its not actually complicated and the problem is you just wasnt shown how to use it by someone who:
a) really doesnt understand joomla themselves..
b) someone who doesnt understand the needs of an internet marketer?
i agree most of the training resources for joomla are done by developers who are too techie, or guys who just simply overwhelm you...
at the end of the day as i keep saying use what works for you
i just dont find over complicatde, and my sites dont take a long time load with the exception of video/flash but thats another story - if it did load slow or wasnt search engine friendly i would have been out of business 5 years ago!

Every one of my sites is based on Joomla!. I love it and Google loves it.
It took me six months to fully utilize Joomla! and to develop a bullet-proof method for optimizing it. It kicks ass! Far more control and far better results than WP.
Once they are built then I manage all of them almost exclusively from a desktop application and a Firefox add-on.
It's tough in the beginning, but if you are willing to put in the effort, Joomla! is the only way to go.
Some Joomla! templates are HUGE, but you can choose smaller ones, or learn how to prune the BS.
Tip: Buy a year-long subscription to a template developer, like RocketTheme, and get all the free forum support you can eat. If you do this for a while, and keep a local record of everything you learn (you can usually apply a solution/fix to many templates), then the process gets very simple over time.

I don't think WP stacks up against Joomla at all, WP is definitely better suited for small blogs but for larger more complicated sites or better designed sites Joomla is the logical CMS, or maybe Drupal.
I have never experienced slow loading and SEO is far from the unachievable task some are making it seem it would take a minute to optimize links in Joomla but if you don't know how you'll definitely have a problem. I guess a lot of peoples problems with Joomla could have easily been solved with a quick visit to their forum or a quick google search.
Also IMO Joomla isn't a hard to get the hang of I never experienced the steep learning curve I was used to the whole system pretty soon after I installed it for the first time.
Though I am also against the paid extensions because some of them simply do not offer the support that is expected after purchasing an extension (RocketTheme being a frequent offender). But for most paid extension there is a free alternative.

I would defiantly agree w/ everyone here. WP is a great blogging platform and great for beginners. But once you get past that, your trying to "hack" wp to do other things that joomla or drupal can do very easily. Overall though, I still choose drupal over joomla. There are lots of little things I just can't do w/ joomla that drupal does super easy. That said, drupal seems confusing to people because it is so much more modular. To do task A you might need 3 small modules. While in joomla you just need one massive plugin. This is often seen as a "weekness" in drupal but its really not. 95% of drupals modules can work together and integrate w/ each other. Joomla isn't even close to that. In joomla you have a massive module that does 50 things, but won't do the one thing you want it to do, and you can't just install another module to get that functionality. In drupal you can.
