Your opinion about Udemy

So, I have seen a number of people post free Udemy courses on the Downloads forum and they look interesting to me but I wanted to ask you all (especially those who have done udemy courses before) what your opinion was about the platform.

Do you think the ones that are not free (so just regular courses) are/were worth your time and money?

If you did courses on Udemy, what was your experience? Did you find it helpful to you? I read that the experience of the course can be very different from course to course, but I also read the platforms sucks and doesn't really work well.

Free courses are intriguing but I don't want to put my time into something that doesn't run smooth and irritate me while I am trying to learn something, you know?

Any opinion, positive/negative/meh, are appreciated! Thank you :D

Every course teaches you something. Even the shittiest ones.

Creators are action takers. So no course is a waste of your time. They are always better than you. You always learn from people better than you.

What an absurd nonsense, these creators are in no way, shape or form better than anyone else, also 90% of these courses are like WSO, just utter garbage and outdated or incomplete info that you can get with their up-sales and OTO's

Used to be good, but the platform and content has gone significantly downhill. Comparing it to WarriorForum/WSO-level quality is apt.
 
Udemy is good, there are good instructors and crappy ones. I'd never take a course if I can get the information for free though. A lot of what you can learn there you can learn for free on YouTube.

You can relate it with the warrior forum like 95% crap and then the rest 5% good enough..
 
Not sure about the SEO stuff but I picked up some useful info about coding and Linux os. The latter enabling me to fuck Windows off
The good thing is the courses are yours to keep. With the evergreen course, you can use them for reference anytime
You can no doubt find all the info out on the internet, but the convenience is worth the price
ps
I always wait for the "any course $10" promotions
 
I guess it depends on what you are planning to learn and how well (or little) you know about what you are trying to learn. As for example, I have tried a few programming courses (for free of course, got coupon from bhw) and most of those were shitty. I wouldn't buy those courses if I had to pay. That being said, I can totally imagine new programmers purchasing those courses and learning something out of them. So.. I suppose it depends..
 
As with everything there are some good and some real crappy ones. I've started now my 15th course on Udemy, and I learnt quite a bit. You can skip to the parts that has your interest, you don't need to see every second of the course as that is a waste of time.

Youtube tutorials and training in coding , designing ,facebook ads and even affiliate marketing are so much better.OP don't waste your time i regret spending hours downloading their courses and watching them while there was a better value in youtube videos .

A bit shit for the internet marketing courses, they are filled with useless information and things that everyone knows, this forum (and some gold yt videos) are enough for this kind of niche. It's good for other things tho, I followed a drawing course that was really helpful, yes you can find many vids on yt, but it was well structured and easy to follow tho
 
There are plenty of good courses on Udemy, but the introduction will often fool people with their good looking person selling out.

I would also watch out for some courses as they do not do best practices for coding which is a shame, saw a PHP course for example where the code was filled with MySQL injection, so just because they sold a lot, don't think they are expert in the field.

So you usually have to browse thru the sections of the course and see the previews from the middle and onward to ensure the instructor is good and easy to understand.

With that said, there are plenty of dedicated people who posted courses there that can get you pretty farm with c# for example.

The main problem(if you're selling your course there) is that a great amount of the courses available there, have been shared on torrent networks and other places...
 
There are some diamonds in hidden amongst the garbage, depending on what you're looking for. John Shea, Christine Maisel, and Isaac Rudinsky consistently put out good stuff.
 
every courses will teach us something, really, even in my place (tier 3 country), we got like internet cafe and they got ripped udemy courses, even Lynda and another online courses which is not for free and a lot of people can copy it freely. a lot of things we can learn from people who shares their skills to us so we will know how they finally made something. (sorry bad english)
 
Hi, everyone! Thank you very much for the input! I really want to learn some more about marketing that I can implement for my business. Udemy seems to have a lot of courses but I wanted to put my time into something that was worthwhile.

All of your inputs are very helpful and I appreciate it very much! I suppose, just like any websites, Udemy has some good and some bad. I read on TrustPilot that their learning platform was rather clumsy and not smooth as well. I am looking through other online learning courses as my options, in addition to Udemy.
