Hey guys !
I am looking for a Web Hosting service which offers unlimited domains, MySql databases, email addresses, Cronjobs and offer a really good load time. After reading lots of good reviews about HostWinds here, I thought of signing up with them but when i googled for it's reviews on the web, there were quite a few unsatisfied customers. For me all what they offer is great but if they have frequent downtime then it's a definite no for me. Ironically when i tried to visit the sites of the reviewers who praised their services (3 of them), they all were down. Can you guys share your experience and recommend any other good host? I have dreamhost on my mind.
Thanks

I have been using Hostwinds for a month now, no complaints so far. The service is good and I love their live chat support - always ready to help.

used them for a while, wordpress sites got hacked and they couldn't care less.
Then I had a load of downtime, no apologies or anything.
Now I host elsewhere.

Never set auto billing with them. They like to alter the price every month. I always get invoice of more than the service price.

Hostwinds support is great, they are always online in the chat area but they are pretty big and well known and they only have so many shared servers. I think if you can find a smaller quality host website that would be the best way to go. I'm hosted with hostwinds but im thinking of moving my important sites to something that isnt so crowded.

Thanks for the feedback people !
So what do you guys suggest?
Dreamhost or GoDaddy or any other?

I have tried Bluehost back in 2009. They were good back then but I guess now they are own by EIG

Not so good imo. I had a vps i took few months back to run prosper202. I ran a media campaign for a day and next day i saw the server offline and when checked mail saw they sent one with the explanation that my vps got mass ddos and they null routed the ip. I recommend knownsrv for the vps needs. they pretty solid imho

We have over 50 shared servers currently.

We are in the process of adding more servers, and upgrading the hardware in all legacy servers. This is part of our commitment to quality for all users.

If speed is of huge concern, I highly recommend you look into some of our VPS packages.

I have a few sites with hostwinds. The downtime is very minimal. I like their prompt response for support.

i've been with hostwinds from the very start and it keeps getting worse. their customer service doesn't care and my site keeps going down since the past couple of weeks and I have been patient enough and in fact i had enough! enough is just simply enough! I will go with wiredtree. Their customer service before is the best but now? they take their sweet ass time to get back with you. wth! i'm done!

They are great, I have been with them for over 3 years..
Haven't had any problems in the last 8 months. and im a VPS user :)
Go ahead with them...

They simply shutdown my vps just after I renewed for the month. Don't go for hostwinds. Support guy is clueless

I've been using them for around 5 months so far, zero complaints, zero problems and support is top notch and always online for a chat. Definitely better than Hostgator where they shutdown my acc when I install few plugins/themes in a row which drains "too much" of their resources.

Currently, I'm with Hostwinds business plan and I'm loving it. It's fast and so far haven't experienced any downtime. I switched from HG to Hostwinds just this July. Support is great, especially the live support... I'm loving it!

I can't tell about their VPS, but definitely their business plan is worth every penny.

With any host even how secure they are, you should always make your own measures and place security systems in your installation. Also, even if Hostswinds do backup, better keep a backup yourself also... so when something unexpected happen, you always something at hand.
