If you're trying to run a business, especially one you can build, scale and sell, you should have a website.

It's insane to me... there's some very advanced marketing topics discussed here, and then there's people who don't grasp the importance of having a website.

We have been in business for 5 years without a website, we sell the traditional way and depending on the age of the customer.

I worked for people who didn't have a website and earned 100 times as much as they paid me. :(
I do too, actually :D

While I totally support having a website, I don’t think every business really needs one

For some, even just a social media page works just fine and that’s it

Yes! It helps in most cases but not a necessary stuff to start earning.

Same thing goes for social media. You need to have a presence on mainstream SM apps, unless you're targeting boomers.

Haha, back in the days I always had a website before the product/marketing/sales, and never could launch properly.

Now I do not have a website and have multiple successful business streams.

Not a single one of my high-ticket clients asked for a website. Actually, the contrary - if someone asks for a website, I instantly know they will be a bad business.

Go figure.

actually, it acts like a physical location now and builds trustworthiness for the new customers. A landing page is required, whether it's a Website or a social media profile.

Website is must these days, who already worked on without website is okay.. but if you want more business and think to expand then you need website..

If you're an affiliate and do SEO or social media marketing, you can't survive without a website.

But if you do B2B without lead generation and only by building connections, that's doable without a website.

I personally only do CPA, so I need 100+ sites.

Without a website, what’s the best way to see examples of your past work or client results?

Honestly, whether you need a website really depends on your business.
Look at your niche, check what your competitors are doing, and -most importantly - put yourself in your client’s shoes.

What problem does your product solve?
What problem does your website solve?
Does having a site actually make the buying process easier, or are social media enough for what you offer?

For some businesses, a website is a must-have hub. For others, social media can be way more effective and cheaper. The key is to match your online presence with what your audience expects and where they hang out.

I'm mainly talking about service providers on this forum.

They do things like reputation management, virtual assistants, things like that.

website is like home base, socials are good but you don’t own them, account can be banned anytime, with a site you control the traffic, collect emails, build brand, and later if you want to sell the business the site is real asset, without it you just building on rented land

website traffic is a real asset

Yes, but you will need to make sure that you have the resources to actually build a decent site, because no site is better than a bad one
