Your Biggest IM Mistake?

I'll start it off! Just about three years ago I started a niche sex tube and in three months it ranked 6000 in the world and was getting over 15,000 uniques a day!

Sadly I really didn't know crap about IM at the time and sold it to someone who did. I got $20,000 for it on eBay and thought I was the king of the internet.

I got an email from the buyer saying he was looking to sell and thought it only right to ask the original owner (me) if I'd like to purchase it. The asking price $250,000. I thought he was joking and told me that he did nothing to the site since he bought it and only knew how to monetize it, and monetize it he did. He was getting between $500 and $700 a day, everyday!

When I owned it I was making $3 to $5 a day...Dohhh!

Anyway this is the one that got away.

i haven't been in the game long enough to make any really huge mistakes, yet

worst i've done so far is, i've probably burned a total of $1000 purchasing untargeted traffic on like 6 different occasions. hehe. untargeted traffic sucks.

Allowing others to destroy my motivation. Fuck them, they do not want me to achieve success so I will do opposite to their wishes.

The worst mistake I have made myself has to be putting off testing new ideas. Every mistake is something learned.

Testing a Google AdWords campaign without setting a small budget. Lost ~$5,000 in an hour.

Thinking I knew a little about ppc advertising, then I realized how I knew absolutely nothing about it the hard way... Never set it and forget it, you will have a huge bill if you don't research your keywords..

Procrastination, always my biggest mistake.

Oh, and "Storesonline", they nearly cut my manhood off.

holding back because I think I'd break something / do something wrong / get sandboxed / etc.

if anything, it kept me from exploring all the different approaches that are possible. Held me back.

Ahh yes! I remember I first purchased virtual hosting from Servage. I remember their UNLIMITED everything for 6.95/mo was very alluring and since I was doing some adult stuff at the time I was head over heels for that package as I couldn't see any loophole, until my traffic started to grow.

I was very excited because one of my sites was growing FAST and once I reached 15GB of daily traffic BAM! The site wen't down and I was like WTF? So I went and ask them WTF was going on? and they said that unless I regulated my traffic they were going to disable my acc because I had gone over 400K "HITS" per day... and remember a hit is just an object loaded by a visitor's browser so if ur page has 50 thumbnails u get 50 hits from one visitor (which is exactly what they said) ...

A few days before getting half decent traffic I was so excited cause sales were up n up and then... the site dies and the worst part... the fuckers didn't even have an upgrade plan, nothing! They only offered 1 virtual plan and thats it! no dedicated no virtual plus no VPS nothing! .... so my whole operation was shortlived.

My biggest IM mistake is getting into this business.

Realized I knew nothing about SEO and had a shit load to learn!

Ive been doing this for 6 months and I did make one mistake that stands out. I found my own method of earning that made me 50-100 a day pretty easily, so I was excited because it was the start of true success here for me. However I got lazy and never kept working on new methods, I just stuck with the old method every day until 2 weeks ago the network that I was earning with lost all their surveys. Its an adult incentive network that we can't name here but its the only way my method works really is with them. Now I am stuck here barely making any money and im working on new methods, but i would be better off if I had already had some new ones in place.

1. Me? My biggest mistake was thinking about girls when I should have been on my grind. I know I have to work hard in my early days of IM to produce favorable results in the long run. This month's productivity and revenue was killed because I kept thinking about this one chick.... Well fuck that, my motto is disregard females, acquire currency. I don't hate myself for thinking about that chick though, because with each failure comes experience and knowledge. Because of that experience, now when some chick is totally on my mind, I'll be able to see through it and know how to act and keep my cool. I'm still a youngin and I need to pull in numbers fast while the affiliate marketing industry lasts. I do sacrifice parts of my social life. Some haters may hate, but I'm willing to do whatever it takes to be a big success. In 10 years from now, those same haters who bashed on me for being a success will be working 9-5 jobs and struggling to pay the bills while I'll be sipping martinis from a jacuzzi and I work on my laptop. And all I'll have to worry about is getting chicks, which is damn easy once you've got the time, money, confidence, and maturity that has come through years of hard work and persistence.

2. Modern warfare 2. I fell into the trap a month ago. I had no xbox before that... and now I'm playing it at least 1-2 hours a day. Big waste of time, but each day I find myself playing it less and less, and it's a great experience to fight off addictions. I've done it before, I'll do it again.

I was addicted to diablo 2 like mad. What did I do? Gave away my accounts and broke my CDs. Yeah, it did torment me for like a week, but after that I completely forgot about it and thanked myself.
