You visit illegal websites

I got this in an email from :FBI <[email protected]>

Sir/Madam, we have logged your IP-address on more than 40 illegal Websites. Important: Please answer our questions! The list of questions are attached.

It had the title "You visit illegal websites" which is poor english.

fbi.gov is the offical site of the FBI.

How does a scammer get an fbi.gov email address?

Email can be easily sent with any from address. You have to look at the email headers to see where it actually originated.

I got this email 7 times in a row yesterday. lol
If it was the FBI they would knock on your door

That is vary true if the FBI wants you they will come get you not send you a e-mail. Better question is some knows your going to illegal websites!

I would scan your whole computer to make sure you don't have any trackeing software.
 
If a team breaks down your door and charges in with automatic weapons, it's probably the FBI. If you get an email, it's from a cyber cafe in Madagascar or some such place.
 
yea .. i got this same mail in my spam with a zip file attached! :D
I am sure, many people might have fallen for it.

@OP ... emails can be sent using any domain.
 
The FBI knocked on my door yesterday, gave me a CD and said load this on your computer. As I live in England I called MI5 and they said it was a scam and they would send me an email with the correct attachment...

try to click on reply, you will see if the return email is the same, or go far to check the message source ( original )
