It has been a while since I have used Yahoo answers, but I think it used to be that when a question expired or a best answer was chosen, you could no longer answer the question, right?

Now you can still answer questions that have a best answer already chosen.

This seems like easy pickings, and I missing something? Your answer will not be chosen as best obviously, but apparently if you have more points than the rest of the users that answered, you'll be the first answer listed after the best answer, unless another answer has more thumbs up.

I have answered a few questions that are seven or eight years old, it would seem that the search engines would look favorably upon the pages this old, yes?

Does anyone here use Yahoo answers for traffic and answer these older questions that already have a best answer chosen? Does it work well for you?

you need to check, if these answers are ranking in Google or not. If yes answer it and give lots of thumbs to your answer and it will give you good traffic.

Perhaps Yahoo answer in each country is different. Sometimes, the question 6 months ago, I still answer it.:dunno:

I've been answering some 7 years old. I wonder when/why they changed to allow answers after a question has closed.

Yup, Yahoo answer is the Good source to generate traffic. But, make sure you are posting only valuable answer. The only problem i heard is most of the accounts got banned/ post removed after few days due to spamming their URL or worth less answer.

Spamming Y! Answers back in 2007 was what got me started in this business, kind of funny it's still around and people are taking advantage of it still! Like you I didn't know they enabled posting answers on old questions, so that's got to be a quite new addition. I wonder how long they'll keep it this way, probably not for long...

Question... if you want to answer ppls questions what's the best way of jumping in first before everyone gets there? And also, what's the best / quickest way of finding someone who is asking a question that might be related to your particular niche?

I think there is software out there that will monitor Yanswers for whatever key words or phrases that you're interested in answering questions about. You could also just go there and search manually.

There was a service here on BHW that would ask questions and then answer them on about 500 different Yahoo Answers type sites. Might anyone know how to get a hold of them or where I could obtain a list of these type of sites?
    Thanks
    Philgood

You can do that, not sure if you can set up an alert for Yanswers only though, and how quick their 'real time' alerts actually are.

But make sure the community doesn't take your URLs seriously, some of the people there try to be smart and report your account, I had around 700+ points and got banned, just because I posted a link in Source area. Yes, they bring traffic for sure, but surviving there is a big deal.
