Why do people still use this? Haven't there been enough examples that forum spam is terrible for SEO?

For SEO all spam it's terrible... don't do spam, make Smart posting and u'll get results same as thousands of happy xrumer users.

If you're posting the same message on hundreds or thousands of forums, that's the definition of spam. Links have to be placed in context to have authority, and the articles have to be unique. Otherwise, you risk getting your site killed in Google search. If they didn't get you with this update, they'll get you in the next one.

I see a lot of tut's etc, which go up to tier 3 linking.
Is it good to get even tier 4, or maybe even up to tier 6?

Actually XRumer can be used even for Tier 1 (so called White hat Seo), all depends to methods of it's usage

the idea of forum mass spamming is at least 10 years expired. btw, the so-called "support" can revoke your license any time if they think you demand too much / complain too much.
Authorisation done through forum login, so once you're out - you're out from everything. Funny, isn't ?

XRumer license can be "revoke" only for violation of 3 rules and they are clearly described in TOS which agree every person at registration of account on our site same as copy of TOS it's available in each XRumer:
1 Reselling of license
2 Reselling of access to license (on pre-insalled VPS etc)
3 Systematic usage of more than allowed number of copies (in this case system first sends notification to user's xrumer and if over-usage still continue system is suspending license)

Same rules have ALL developers of Softwares in whole world.

So please don't lie to ppl about reasons, In special so stupid reason as "to much complain"... complain on WHAT?

Personally, I think Xrumer can only do harm to a website, and can't see it working nowadays in a positive way. I suppose you can use it on your competition, as a 'black' tool..
