I m surprised this morning, I lost 90% of organic traffic on all my websites. Any one has the same issue ? I see that Update hit me so hard xD

Many members got affected by the latest update. Affiliate type content was hot the most hard.

Same thing bro. Youtube and high authority projects took most of the top positions in my niches.
All my projects are down by a lot, but lets give it week or two more. Sometimes google "woke up" and realise that he fucked up a lot.
Maybe this time will be the same ( highly doubt, but otherwise i will need a drink before i can accept such a harsh hit)

Nobody has really figured out what is this latest google update is about.

There are contradictory evidences all over.

For instance. I currently have 4 webs. 3 of them have actually improved after update one is down 90%.

So my all 4 webs are made with same formula. 3 grew while one died? WTH Google?
They are all informational webs BTW.

I have checking my hit web neighbourhood and i saw that all of the webs were hit by the update. I immediately thought this update is about bad neighbourhood. But then i began seeing webs which were not hit in the neighbourhood. So the contradictory evidence began coming over. Confusion again.

That's what make this google update difficult to comprehend.

Content is not bad at all with my down web. It is of good quality. All these 4 webs are complete white hat.

Really good post.
I call this update "stupid" because I'm too "stupid" to figure out what google targeted.
Too many contradicting statements so it's really hard to say.

When did you get f** up by the update ? more details please
I saw decline from 16-17 May. My web slowly disappeared from the SERPS except for a 4-5 pages where the ranking stood firm but for remaining around 150 pages it was gone.

Since last 12 hours I am seeing the traffic is back along with the rankings. I will need another 24-48hrs or maybe a week to confirm this is not temporary.

I do not have the traffic back and still losing keywords, but I yesterday my most hit site got a good spike in clicks and engagement. Today it's back down again though.

Did you use any black hat methods to improve the ranking?

A lot of people foolishly started making huge changes to sites 2-3 days after this rolled out and had no clue as to why or what, except they had read a lot of pointless chatter as to what to do to avoid being hit / to recover from being hit. This was despite the rollout was only a few days old.

Just interested your thoughts, how long webmaster should wait before starting to make some conclusion?

P.S: i'm not do any changes in panic as well, but glad to hear some thoughts of people who know how this all works)

I see also a ranking bounce on my sites, not all but it keeps fluctuate and moving, I believe this major update take a bit of time to setup.

I did nothing and change nothing on my sites

I've been just looking into sites in the fashion niche where I also have a site (which wasn't hit).

I found a site that was hit and pre update was ranking in 1-5 with good content. Some text to describe the style, where it comes from, yada yada. A lot of pictures. Intext affiliate links. Ezoic ads. This site obviously didn't do linkbuilding, was quite new and had a very low DR but lots of content that ranked well and generated tons of traffic.

I checked the SERP history in Ahrefs. 14 May the SERP was like Pinterest - Image packs - [that site] - Etsy - Redbubble - High-DR blog.

14 June [that site] was deindexed, just completely dropped out on half of its keywords and was replaced by another independent blog on the same position in SERP.

The new site has better DR (25-ish) and better backlink profile. Pre update it was ranking around page 2 for that keyword but overall had about 4x more total ranking keywords. It is a much, much older site. Has Ezoic ads. Clearly monetizes by product placement or guest posts too, but hides these posts away from the top of the homepage.

The content has exactly the same setup: describe the style, name the cultural references - same thing. Also uses affiliate links, the only difference is the placement: This new site has them under the images, kind of like "shop similar look".

In terms of content, this winning site is not really very different. The content is thin, not super engaging, not something that is spicy or opinionated, really just very generic bla bla bla. Graphically it presents the content a little better, there's the same filter for all the hero images on all posts so it looks kinda like a magazine. This winning site has Instagram which is not maintained and doesn't have many followers.

The biggest difference was IMO that the winning site has a disclosure at the top of every post "this contains affiliate links" or "sponsored by...." and a small paragraph about the sponsor. So their affiliate links are pretty much never in text, they are always under the images or in a visually separated CTA box.

I don't know if that made a difference but I'm thinking that sort of thing is something a bot would pick up.

Every Google update is bound to drive the website ranking nuts! It's just what it is.

No one has control over the behaviors of the algorithm, not even Google.

It's a machine that either likes you, or it doesn't.

And in the end, it will say "It isn't you, it's me. I know you will find someone better than me".

Better than you? Yeah, I will go gaga over Bing now!

Get over it mate, there is no other way. Seems like nobody told us that passive income isn't really passive anymore.
