I think you're absolutely correct. Couldn't have been just him armed with just that tool, how come he has a camera man yet no one to help him out. It's strange how he turned what looked like a little ant hill into cement(was very funny), I'm certain he used real cement there and not that ant stuff. The painting/coating with leaves?
The entire project is super interesting but I don't think he planned being honest with the way he's selling it
