:D

lmfao !! nice one :D

alienware is retarded. Go bash me all you want but I ever had both M15X Area-51 (older version), and the new M11X. They use plastic instead of hinge to move their laptop lid, unbelievable...

I would suggest you to get MBP, buy 2 years apple care, and install bootcamp (use windows xp cracked version for bootcamp). It'll run good for games and SEO softwares. You would surely need the apple care protection though as the hardware might not be reliable enough. VAIO is another option but they are also expensive.

All Xps 'es suck. They look nice but suck.
My office had a lot of 20 inch XPS
ALL had malfunctions with video or keyboard. Reballing costed a fortune for 10 of them.

Acer Aspire 5742G
i5 480M
4GB RAM
NVIDIA GT 420M
640 GB HDD

Around $1000

I can hardly load it at 15 percents running SB+AMR

Or you can get Aspire 5942G
with Intel Core i7-740QM (1.73 /2.93GHz, 6MB Cache, 1066MHz)
6GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650
for around $1500
and with it nobody can stop you:p

You said that your old laptop was Dell and you had problems with it and you still wanna buy another Dell. Look at tech forums to see how many problems Dell and HP have. Those companies can't make laptops. Plus they tend to make "smart" laptops. You can't charge Dell and HP with non original charger. Think at that too.

Sony Viao hands down Mac is great but I would rather virtualize osx then buy a machine that houses it if you want something to last you but i reccommend getting a desktop for black hat stuff this way you can spend like 500-800 dollars and get a machine that will virtualize and if you get a motherboard that allows you to place another processor on it you can really create a powerful machine running multiple os's

yes i do realise that .. and i personally dont want to go after a dell or HP...

but then the other laptops having high config are costing too much.. out of my budget of 1.5 to 2k...

even i thought of going after a desktop.. but then that will kil the mobility part of it...

i need a laptop first and then i can go for a desktop...

Sony has good laptops.. problem being their price tags... the configuration that i get in a 1.6k dell laptop will cost me 2.5k in a sony laptop...

If I was on a tight budget I'd probably look at an Asus, they are nice, affordable, and quality.

Just great for a cost effective laptop.

finally got a laptop... since budget was a constraint i had to go for a HP -- HP DV6 6017 tx - 2nd gen i7, 2ghz, 6 gb ram, 1 gb dedicated graphics

Don't feel bad for the HP. I've had a HP dv6-1250us (apparently an older version of yours) for over 2 years without any major problem once I put window's 7 on it. It's gotten slow and very glitchy starting up, but other than that it's still great...you probably won't even have slow startup with the newer processor.

I use mine mainly as a desktop, but it has seen hot temperatures and a couple of hard drops. And yes, they do completely suck outdoors due to the LED screen.

And as for Dell, my parents still use their first computer, a 6 year old Dell desktop. Although years ago windows xp refused to reinstall on it no matter what, it has not had any hardware failures. It was NEVER even opened up and cleaned out until a few months ago, and it stays constantly running!

My next laptop when/if this one dies will probably be a custom built one by some local company or possibly a Macbook if I decide I like them.
