Where did you visit? And what country are you originally from?

There are some lovely places in PH, but equally some truly shocking places, depending on what you grew up with...

Filipinos try to make foreigners eat balut for the sole purpose of entertainment :)

I been living here for ages. NEVER will i try to eat a duck embryo.

As for nice and not so nice places - yeah, you got them in any Country. I live in Manila - great city if you don't mind being stuck in traffic and a horrible amount of pollution. BUT also great nightlife and super cheap buying Chinese made goods.

I make a very nice living of selling Chinese made stuff on both large platforms. For years already. All in all 1 of the best places to live for an Expat

You're going their for forever with your wife to stay there? What's your nationality man?

Is balot at least tasty, im curious to go to the Philippines and try it.

If you like to come send me a PM and I'll pick you up from the Airport. You'll have a real good time here :)

My wife eats it sometimes and she says it's great. But looking at a cracked open duck egg and seeing the beginnings of feathers and a beak - hell no....

And I have been to a lot of Asian Countries and tried just about everything. Tarantula, Snake, Scorpion, all sorts of bugs except cockroaches. Even askal and that was not to bad at all.

I confirm, I work with many filipinos, and damn they are tooooooo nice!!!! Like brazilian a bit without the party freak part :D I think I have to add visiting philipine to my upcoming destinations.

Can you get in trouble if your caught buying askal on the secret farms that still sell it?

Are you sure about the party freak part?

My ex and the pinays/pinoys I know of are all HUGE PARTY FREAKS. And they can really drink for days without sleeping ;)

I would not buy or prep it. I just eat it once in a while when hanging out with neighbors who do the cooking part. I guess it's somewhat illegal but a lot of stuff is considered illegal here and does not really get enforced.

It's one of those Countries where "As long as you have money, you got no problems". I would not want to live here without a very solid income and that's for sure.

All those small infractions we live with, regardless what Country we live in, like running a red light, speeding ( which is almost impossible here due to the traffic ) and a host of other similar stuff can be solved on the spot with a few bucks.

Corruption is a way of life here - result of many things going back a long time but to a major part of having gov employees underpaid. If you pay a cop a 400 USD or less salary a month he will find a sideline for sure. Goes from the lowest levels of gov to the highest.

You can argue now if that is a bad thing or a good thing. But it would end with just that: An argument and a discussion. Nothing will change, at least not with this administration or the next or next or next......

Been here long enough to be confident in this statement but it is only my personal opinion.

Same as Indonesia :)

I've lived in the phils.. and I prefer Bali :) But I love phils still :)

Have you been to many places? I guess it all depends on your perspective. Can you live with all the negative things there? I personally could not live in any of these countries and especially if I saw someone eating do they would probably end up in the pot themselves.
Many places in the world were people are very nice, mostly the not so wealthy countries are friendlier here.

Welcome back, Hope you enjoyed a Lot...

Is this a thing to eat ? I mean Balut.

Pls never mind Philippine Guys here. I just express my opinion here. Sorry for that.

I am a filipino thanks for admiring our country but as a foreigner you should be careful as well, there are TONS of holdapers, snatchers, swindlers, the ones that taking advantage of you since you are a foreigner and all sorts of evil people just like many countries has..

I have an american friend who said the same thing, said we are the most friendly people he has ever met. We went to total of 12 countries and he can't compare how filipinos are so good to him..
