Must be something wrong there - I've just posted some letters (these are in Fedex envelopes with a small "gift" - either an eraser or a toy car). Postage was $2.12 for the heaviest one!

It depends where you live and a few other factors. I know dices or an eraser would pass in the machine so it would only cost me $1.37 but a small toy car don't so it ends up being shipped as a parcel which cost $9.64 (or something like that). :(

The biggest concern I would see with this method is convincing them that a review funneling
website is worth all that money every month.

I mean how hard is it to make that review funnel website? Would take maybe 30 mins tops to build if you knew
what you were doing.

Just like that one guy said he wanted you to leave the pic of the website... I'm sure that is his plan to just
build the site himself.

How do you guys get over the barrier of convincing business owners (who probably have their own web techs) to pour
out so much money on a pretty simple concept to build?

I would suggest that not every business has web guys. Besides, what's a simple concept to us may not be simple to a small business owner who doesn't have the time/inclination to build the site.

In addition, remember, you'll be monitoring their reputations, so that they don't have to.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's what he's gonna do. He looked like he knows a bit about internet.

I'm honestly not sure too about this and my prospect clearly told me "And you personnally believe this is worth $499/month?" and I told him yes because of the values it brings to his business but I guess my presentation and price were flawed which is the reason why he said something like that.

Now I'm not sure at all if it's a good or a bad thing.. This could either mean the IM provider will contact me and see if we can work together OR they will steal "my" idea since it's quite simple/basic to replicate. I even brought a screenshot of a review funneling site and he asked me if he could keep it along with a few other screenshots (internet traffic, etc.) and I said yeah sure but then back home I thought oh god he might just replicate it ...

I guess that's life and sh*t but this is quite a deception as I prepared myself for one week and I was 99,9% sure to get out of there with a new client but no. :(

Anyway, I won't give up and I'll keep taking actions but I wanted to share it with you my fellow BHWers! I think I'm gonna take a last chance and depending on his final answer next week, I'll tell him I can do Review Funneling/Facebook for $700/month with 2 months up front for 6-months/12-months contract. I have nothing to lose right?

great post, here is something I learned on my entrepreneur journey so far that I hope you find helpful also... just to remain in control of yourself ALWAYS prepare for everything but don't expect anything.

I was thinking about that too... The funnel website is a very simple one-page html website, a kid could make it :D

So maybe you have to do your seller's job and try to bamboozle him a little with some complex sentences :D

Some kids could yes but most business owners won't have a clue.

Also the inclusion of the design of the cards, upkeep, hosting, domain, feedback form, the EXECUTION and IMPLEMENTATION is what they are paying for here. Yes the idea but like you said you give them the idea for free in your pitch..
 
Good for you sticking to your guns OP. It would be easy to bend too much trying to get your first client, but you followed the right path towards being a real business. I'll bet you he'll cave in and you'll be on your way next month, ;)

you should follow up with the SERPs and see if he currently doing this. You can always be evil and counter his good reviews that he is putting up with bad reviews, just for stealing your idea/business lol

so does this method actually work?

seems like everyone is hitting a wall because people dont want to fork up 400-500 a month for just the site / cards

i get motivated when i see the original posts on these types of threads but almost all of the replies seem to be people who can't make it work :(
 
This method does work! I have found that it is truly a numbers game. Some clients will feel as though they can do the work themselves, while others will feel lost without you.

Offer alerts, review funneling, and social media management if you feel as though you are not offering enough.

Honestly some business owners will think you are a genius while others will not see the value in what you are offering. Ultimately this system DOES work and the results are measurable so if a business owner does not see the value in what I am offering, it is his loss....
 
Any type of sales is a numbers game.... if you hit a hundred clients up then one will buy whether you pitch it right or not.

That's something I learned early on when first training how to sell.
