I wouldn't, but a lot of competitors wouldn't think twice about it. The world of business is a ruthless one with little to no ethics.

If you want to be the one with the biggest tower in your city here is what you can do
1. Build as tall tower as you can and be the tallest
or
2. Build a tower and destroy the other towers which surpass you.
Trust me being evil isn't worth it, it may look seductive but not worth if you want thing in the long run.
Believe or not Karma exists! Postivity always wins over negativity no matter what!

I personally dont buy into that statement. Basically if someone burns you and only you. It wouldbe hard to find out who it was. If they are smart and lets say only murk 1 of the people in the top 10 every few weeks or a month... Yeah try and find them.

Wrong... now I'm not a fan of negative seo but imagine this:
Lets say you have a site that's on a tie with two other competitors in the top three Google placings. and no matter what you've tried, they keep outranking you! So you neg seo them (not going into detail here) and hola, you're number one! Do that with competitive keywords and the difference between spot numero three and uno is gigantic!
Again, not trying to move anyone towards that line of attack, but it does work... you just have to know what you're doing. (That's where they all fail)
It's not a waste of money and time. I've had someone do it to my 100% white hat 5 year old quality website. Instead of porn links, they spammed hundreds of thousands of web 2.0, wiki, bookmark, profile links with the same anchor text to my website. It crashed and burned and still hasn't recovered.

For the most part I agree with the notion that the time and resources would be better spent on something positive for your own properties, but I would use negative SEO for reputation management if it was necessary to get rid of something bad about me or a client.
I think that if it worked well and was worth it then everyone would be doing anti-seo instead of SEO but reality is a bit different
We do anti-seo for clients that don't want to pay for our service anymore hoping to hold top spots despite of that. Many of them want to come back when it's too late and bringing back the website is too costly
Just market rules. Otherwise we don'ttend to anti-seo competitors website as it's more difficult to do it when we don't have a direct control over the website.

I bet most of the time, people that actually do the negative SEO don't even benefit from it anyway. They can't compete on a normal SEO level so they will just ruin sites and others will just pass them by anyway. Best just to improve you SEO skills, that will be much more beneficial in the long term. I'm definitely against it.

Yes I agree but I rank my site, it stays then the other guy calls his big SEO company then they go above me. Then I rank above him again then he calls the big SEO company takes my place. This is been happening for months. I don't need skills, I know more than many SEO companies.

Ahh, That's very wrong and unethical, If you have guts to keep your position in the market with your competitors then you must have good qualities then your competitors, Competition should be break by high quality work only not by giving harm to others.
