    Keyword has 40k exact searches a month, cpc of $1,08 and is about a product that sells on amazon for $100 - $300.

    Ps. I'm revealing this keyword later, just interested on how many people would go for this keyword based on this info.

    I'd go for it, doesn't seem that hard to beat top 3

    Well yeah, that pretty much what I thought. A keyword with 40k exact searches and the top 5 has less than 600 backlinks to that page.. JACKPOT!

    Until I check if any other affiliate sites tried to rank for this keyword ( something everybody should do for exactly this reason )

    [IMG]

    So apparently loads of other guys tried to rank for this "easy" keyword but didn't even come close the the first page. They have built thousands of backlinks but for some reason they can't outrank these pages with only 100 backlinks.
    Reason: I have absolutely no idea.

    Might be because of the user experience of the affiliate sites are terrible and panda punished them. But I checked all the sites and the content is pretty decent, nothing I would have done different myself.

    Might be because of the backlinks of the affiliate sites are terrible. Well this is not the case; I have checked the backlinks for most sites and they are decent. Topexercisebikesreviews.com actually has a linkwheel of other domains which are ranking very high for related keywords but is still only ranked #38.

    If you feel like you can rank for this keyword please go for it. I'd love to see a BHW member rank for this keyword, the keyword is "exercise bike" if you haven't figured it out by now.

    It has nothing to do with panda, and everything to do with the fact they were trying to outrank walmart, amazon, target, sportauthority, etc.

    If you know anything about google it's that recently their algorithm has changed to be even more nepotistic than ever towards big companies. Any SEOer should run away from these kinds of things (at least if your goal is to rank in google).
    What's funny though is yahoo/bing are far less up large companies' asses, and the website: www.exercise-bikes-direct.com is #1

    Not really, I have lots of niches where I dominated big sites like amazon, newegg, other company buying sites & wikipedia with just a couple of backlinks;

    [IMG]

    But for some reason these other affiliate sites can't even come close to amazon with their thousands of backlinks with the niche; exercise bike.

    well, whatever most people said, is not easy to go against amazon, sears, walmart, etc .
    And even if you rank first, and then Amazon, why people will enter into your site first if they check as second Amazon ? to much time ( even more if you see that others with tons of backlinks are not making it ) for only 40 K ( which is always, always, a lot less ). And 40 K are global or Local ?
    Anyway, if you tell me 4 millons exactly searchs, I say go for it. But for 40 K ? fighting against all "big names" ? no thanks
