You'd have to be retarded to point a blog network similar to BMR or ALN directly at your money site if it wasn't incredibly well built. Extremely private networks without spun content and high PR should be fine. But, I don't consider those to really be networks, more like privately owned sites.

Yes,buying your own domains is the next best thing

ADWORDS. sooner or later Google will kill every shit type of SEO so that we would have no other thing to use except ADWORDS. :D

Sometimes,I think the same but this not true

I use them every day to my money site, no ranking problems at all.

Thats good buddy.....Good Luck

Everyone getting their knickers in a twist about these blog networks, yea for sure ALN, BMR and HPRS got hit bad, but folks they are not the only networks out there, and please have a little think about what those networks have in common: they are owner owned networks, what i mean here is all the blogs in the network are owned by the network and bought specificly with high pr for posting crap to in order to get links

On the other hand you have user contributed networks, the ones were people are adding their own blogs to the network in order to acquire tokens to post to the rest of the network, think about this how can networks like this actually totally be shut down? Now use your head here please: these networks are being added to all the time by fresh webmasters looking for more tokens etc so that's brand new user owned blogs being added ALL the time, google ain't that smart trust me!

Diversity is the key its been said here a million times before and these links will always be effective as part of a diverse SEO strategy, I laugh at all these fools that only used BMR to rank their sites, 100s of SEO companies all falling because they relied totally on BMR, ALN or HPRS for their clients sites (all of which have been hit hard now) they never would have had this problem if they'd played the game right!

This is the way i see it and tbh it's just common sense....

Correct, bottom line, PBNs will never die since networks will remain when smart people use them wisely.

ALN initially started with user contributing blogs...then they went paid

Soon they were gone :)

Free Blog Links is a user contributed network...but it has closed registrations now

Blog Authority Network is no more

Has anybody tried Rank Solver and Blog Series networks...both are user contributed ones

thanks

All the networks I'm talking about have paid options, that's not the point the point i was making is those networks specificly buying up high pr aged domains and using them entirely for this purpose, it screams foot print, another huge foot print i noticed in common with these hit networks is the signature or w/e you call it they add on at the end

I could name you a lot of networks off the top of my head that are all still running fine and have not seen any negative impact from this deindexing carry on, look around they are not hard to find!

It's a two-way street, my friend. You can kill your sites but you can also earn money/gain rankings.

I completely agree, I do it myself. When they burn I roast marshmallows, not cry.

They did. However, not all sites were hit. Actually, only 1% (just an estimate) of all sites that did blackhat in anyway got hit.

So Far

Not all blackhatters are scamming anyone. Actually, a good portion of the webmasters here are delivering awesome content and helpful features to the people. They are simply helping people find them.

You seriously gonna stick to that one? I agree about the quality content part. The reference to scamming was regarding Google's view that people who try to game the system are scammers. I did not call anyone a scammer.

They have said this and will always say this. Since day 1, it is their motto.

And they back it up

Not so. Only those who are found out/look at manually. There are simply too many sites to penalize and they can't afford to put something in the algo's that will hit all of them including those whose links are just planted by competitors.

"They cant possibly de-index all those article directories/bliog networks"

I don't know about EVERYONE but I only know about a few sites (in the context of all sites who are doing BH tactics).

A generalization on my part, you are correct, I stand corrected.

Including hitting innocent sites in the process? You do know that I can simply plant an "unnatural" link to Matt Cullen's blog and according to the measure you have used, he can also be slapped in the process, right?

Do you think I am talking about a single link? Is that what you understood?

HEY, you have just given me a new idea. Maybe you guys want to multi-spam his site with spam links. Maybe that will let him taste the slap of Google. (kidding)

Golly what a vicious thing to say, and seed to set. I deserve to have my site trashed because I express an OPINION that you disagree with? I come here and help anyone I can, for free, I probably deserve to have my site trashed, HUH?
How.....honorable of you. Feel better now?

Be my guest, I am not unused to adversity, I will simply build another.

No man. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was referring to the guy almost every blackhatter hates: Matt Cullen. Not you. You simply expressed an opinion and I respect that.

Completely my fault, and I apologize for jumping to a conclusion without properly looking at the facts.

Please accept my sincere apology, I was out of line with that comment.

I extend that apology to the general readership as well.

They still work, just use networks that are not as popular as BMR and ALN.

Exactly what I was going to say.

There are a few networks that are not popular that much. They are truly "private" as in:

1. Their main website isn't directly accessible by non-members
2. They have no affiliates
3. They do not leave any identifiers anywhere
4. They do not ask users to add blogs
etc etc..

I use such networks now, but only mildly. Once I get some momentum, I'll be a little more agressive.

Could you please help me with footprints

Say if I build my own network of 10-20 blogs to start with..what footprints should I try to avoid and how?

How are such networks earning and functioning then?

Since no user is adding blogs to them, the owner is bearing all the costs....and if this is happening, then he would obviously want some profits?

Or is it some investment done only for the owner's website rankings

thanks

When you interlink one to another, that's a footprint. When you have every domain in the same hosting account, that's a footprint. If all of them have 5 posts linking to the same domains then that's a footprint. A footprint is basically anything that can be used to tie the sites of a network together.

Yes, the owner is bearing all the costs but the main profit is in the rankings of the site. A network is only expensive when you buy them. Once they are up and running and your sites are getting link juice from them, the costs are nothing from the sales you will get from the awesome SERP movements.

You can still add users though but for only people you trust and can pay big money for these links. In order to be risk-free, keep the network to yourself so as to work as your "secret" weapon.

Do you guys think Google can bypass the private WHOIS and see who owns the domain? ... Are any of you guys registering domains with fake information?

Interesting point there. That might be a footprint that many are not aware of.

You can easily put fake information on the domains, however, you can't easily fake the CC and PP used for the purchase though.

Is putting fake information on the domains a good idea?

I want to reach 40 years old without having a heart attack so...no.

But making my own network for my own use? Yes, probably.

So why is everyone missing the main point here?

All this talk about networks leaving footprints. How it's because google has somehow caught onto them. If they still work, if google will penalize your money site? Yada Yada Yada

I think its dead simple. Same reason so many of us had our sites spanked/ sandboxed/ deindexed. Shit content, or links from shit sites. Right? I mean I've used quite a few of the networks that got hit. What do they all have in common? Well 1. they put out spinned content, a lot of it which is junk on their network. 2. The content is all over the place as far as topic/category/keywords. There's your footprints! The new algo came out which specifically targets this type of BS! So guess what, your site takes a hit.

If you're a blog network site with thousands of shit spun articles, no unifying theme, crap layout, guess what ... you get deindexed!

If your site has thousands of links coming from those shitty deindexed sites, guess what... you get bitch slapped, or worse also deindexed!

The search engines are not that smart! They don't have secret access to secret info, they don't use OCR! They've developed a way to tell grammatically incorrect content/ spun content which doesn't make any sense, versions of which appear all across the web on sites that post way to much unrelated garbage every single day and have deindexed them. End of story!

If a lot of your links come from deindexed sites, you will be penalized. If flags go off about your site's content and or links, you might have someone come check it out, and if it's crap, you might get deindexed.

Everything else is just BS.

So to the original question. If the blog network is made of only quality sites, with set categories for niches, which only uses original content, with only the absolute minimum high quality spinning applied. Which also supports image and video in the content, then you should use it. If not, stay away,

Cheers.

You couldn't be more wrong. I have the network to prove it, not just speculation like you have.

This is not even close to the footprint. BMR had all of their sites on SEO hosting, that's their footprint. Who uses SEO hosting besides networks?

ALN had tokens all over the place connecting all of their blogs to each other, that was their footprint.

I have thousands of indexed links using all sorts of spun content, that's not what Panda targeted.

If your site has thousands of links coming from those shitty deindexed sites, guess what... you get bitch slapped, or worse also deindexed!
Never true, and never has been true. I have used BMR and ALN on at least 40 sites, and not one of them was slapped or deindexed. Sure, there are people that were deindexed after using ALN, but that doesn't mean that ALN was the cause.

The search engines are not that smart! They don't have secret access to secret info, they don't use OCR! Google does have and use OCR. They index thousands of old newspapers. Just google "google OCR", they've been using it since 2009, maybe longer.

Google has not deindexed my spun content, but I take time to spin to very high levels, usually above 98%.

If a lot of your links come from deindexed sites, you will be penalized. If flags go off about your site's content and or links, you might have someone come check it out, and if it's crap, you might get deindexed.

You aren't penalized, but if those links are devalued, your ranking goes down because you don't have the links to support your ranking. You had links that no don't exist, of course your ranking slips.

Deindexing is completely different, and means you can't find your site using the site:example.com command.

If you haven't tested your opinions, at least state that these are your opinions.

I respect your opinion but I would like you to analyze my scenario

I am in a extremely competitive niche and I tried all sorts of methods on my site and there were no rankings....then I tried a few Blog network services on this forum and I noticed a rise in rankings

I guess I am not wrong in assuming that those network services gave me the rankings

Then suddenly my rankings drop all of a sudden (from 3 to 41,from 4 to 38 and so on)

I started checking my links in Google webmaster and most of the blog posts which they did, dont exist now....after this I checked that even the blogs dont exist now

I haven't used BMR and had submitted 6-7 articles to ALN for this site

Now how to get out of this??

Moreover, are they penalizing pages or the entire website?

Should I do some bookmarks/article submissions manually and will I be fine?

thanks
Ankur

I haven't seen any penalties, but I've seen a lot of ranking decreases due to links being deindexed/devalued due to BMR/ALN going down.

Directory Submissions-Not effective anymore
Social Bookmarking -Not effective anymore (helps in indexing though)
Article Submissions-Spammed to death(thanks to AMR)
Forum Profile Backlinks-Detected by Google and no longer effective
Web 2.0 -on the verge of not being effective
Wiki Links-spammed to death
Blog Commenting-spammed to death(thanks to Scrapebox)
Blog Networks-recently penalized
Site wide links-recently penalized
Blog rolls and signatures-penalized
.EDU/Gov -mainly blog commenting so can be considered as spammed to death
Linkwheels/Link Pyramids-detected by Google, not as much effective as before

So what now???

Have you got proof or is this just information you've heard and recycling? I've recently got a test site to rank for 4 kws, straight to page 1 within 2 weeks. Purely Using Social Bookmarks, Wiki links supported by blog comments.

Honestly if you haven't done extensive testing you shouldn't be making statements on what you may think. Sorry to sound like I'm being an ass but you obviously aren't using those platforms mentioned above correctly.

As for blog networks, I highly suggest building your own private network.
