    ---- THREAD CLOSED 01/22/2015 ----
Hey, so I have finally decided to become a (real?) writer and write some Ebooks. I started a journey couple of days ago on ciao.co.uk, but today I found out that they only pay to UK based bank accounts, so that sucks. Anyways, I will now get serious and start writing ebooks and hopefully make some serious money.

So, I love writing stories. I am just here to ask you guys, that if I write an adventurous story, for example a group of kids who go on a trip and find something mysterious out and blah blah, you know? Will that kind of story sell or is Kindle a place for grown ups who only pay for books that would make them money? I have done a bit of research and most of the books are not IM related. So what do you say guys? Should I get serious and write a freaking story? Or should I write on something else?

Anyways, I think I would list the price of the E-book at $0.99 or $1.99 because I'm gonna write it myself and not going to spend any money in its creation and also, the book would be relatively short having only about 20-50 pages. What do you say?

If it's decent and there is a market then why undersell yourself? You really want to write a 20-50 page to sell for $0.99. I know I wouldn't.

Break it in series and test. If the first one is a flop, you saved time and effort. Make sure you point your readers to your list so that they can get notified when the next one comes out (and you build a list of buyers).

Do you think that I would need to market my Ebook for results? Because I read a thread of another member today and he said that he has 20 books and get about 70-100 sales a day without marketing at all. We're talking about Amazon Kindle only by the way.

The Hardy Boys franchise had a pretty good run with books like that if I am not mistaken.

I kinda doubt that everyone who publishes a book on Kindle gets 3 sales per day. ;) Niche matters. If you're serious you need to do your research, find a good niche, find what the readers need on that niche and serve it.

This is something I was looking at getting into, too. With regards to the marketing, I honestly think this is an area where you're going to need a lot of reviews in a short period of time. As Jazzc mentioned, break it up and test how the first part does. If you sell it for a small price i.e. $1, and it really takes off then it won't be much of a hit to your pocket.

Price is important here since you'll most likely be wanting friends and family to buy the first part (and I'm sure you'll reimburse them for leaving such great reviews). If it was the case you got 20 reviews, it's much better to cough up $20 for them rather than charging $3 per download effectively costing you $60.

Of course, you could set up an Amazon Associates account and get some of the reviewers to purchase the book through that (not all of them though since this would look really suspicious). That way you'll be making back some of your investment and get you on your merry way to making a proper return on the other parts of the book.
