Worth my time?

Okay, so I own an arcade site and I'm starting to rank for some lucrative keywords.

There is a few problems though:

The New release of a script I use makes the game urls a bit more SEO friendly
It would require a fresh install according to the owner of the script (meaning start the site from scratch)
I would have to put in a TON of work to reupload & re-rank all of the games.

I have a few questions on what I should do:

Should I bite the bullet for the easier SEO aspects of the new release?
Is there anyway to set up 301 redirects from the old urls that were climbing the serps via the htaccess?
What do you think I should do?

The problem is just I know if I wait for about a month or two of grinding out more SEO I should be earning about 800 bucks from this site a month.

How a bit is a bit more SEO friendly? Elaborate. I need this info to help you out.

you need to make what you want clearer - I'd offer advice, as would many others - if I totally understood what you need advising on.

From what I gather - and what I've experienced myself, I get no difference in rankings between www.mysite.com/seo_optimised_url and http://www.mysite.com/store/product.aspx?ProductID=8e519c6f3-41a8-41e8-93606-02b9efa2f3280 . This definately goes against the grain of opinion here though. Basically I don't really care whats after the slash, and I've renamed over 700 pages manually to be more SEO friendly, only to see in about 80% of cases google shows the unfriendly url.

From:

To:
www.site.com/play/category/game

Understood, this is why I ask for a bit of insight. I thought the areas where I would need answers would be quite noticeable as they were questions. Anyways, I've decided to edit my htaccess file to 301 redirect the old urls of the games that were ranking to their new location, and then build links to the new locations exclusively.

i'd say go for it,
with a few caveats
1st, before you do it, find other ways to improve your site,
stuff you've been putting off for a while, do that too while you do this
2nd, try to find a way to automate the process a bit better
3rd, remeber, that means you have 700 pages of fresh content (google loves that), and that old links pointing at games no longer work, figure out how to setup a custom 404 to make the change less user impacting in you can
