World Happiness Ranking!

Which country are you from?

Is this info right? If you get a chance to choose the country for your next birth, What country would you choose?

Full list is here - https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/happiest-countries-in-the-world

I don't think Denmark would still be in the top 5 after Trump snatches that Greenland :D

The winters here are long and dark. Like really dark. For months and months we get at most a few hours of sun a day and then it’s pretty much pitch black; that messes up your body’s biological clock, thus sleep difficulties.

That's why, when it's that mad freezing, you need to survive, you don't have time to be sad and upset, you need to move not to freeze :D

Jokes aside, there are more and more reports that a higher temperature raise the "nerves" and it's inclined for people to start doing bad things: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2666449623000531

Maybe, but I personally believe that the happiness index lists are often BS. I have visited several of these countries and much of the general population looks like they want to die every day.

Conversely, places like Mexico or Thailand which never make these lists, local people behave and look like they are very happy, despite being much poorer and having worse overall conditions

Agreed. You will see some of the happiest people in small African poor villages who live in community style and the kids gather by the dozens every day and play football in the mud. Those are genuine happy smiles.

This is not true, I agree with that guy saying about Mexico and Thailand because those are decent countries, not so poor, they are ''acceptable'' and most people are living well, they have something to eat and conditions to have a good life.

But african poor vilages? Take a look here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_suicide_rate

Extremely poor african countries rank high for that, not in vain, starving and living in a rural village is terrible for anyone.

It's correct, sri lankans have easy access to shitloads of fresh food, cheap water, a lot of stuff isn't even taxed at all, there's no inflation, good healthcare (in comparison to Poland, idk in other countries), there are more houses than apartments and even what's considered an apartment is usually small house attached to another house or a whole floor in a house, are partying and smiling all the time but they're still pissed that tourists don't let them scam them enough. Yep. Most people are chronically pissed if they don't earn for the whole month expenses and then some after 1 payment from you.

Hey everyone,

Just checked out the World Happiness Ranking list. It's interesting to see Finland topping the charts again. But as some have pointed out, high rankings in antidepressant usage in these countries make you wonder about the metrics used. Maybe happiness is more about perspective than location.

Cheers!

Exactly, these rankings are bias as they are based on stats like (gross domestic product per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make your own life choices, generosity of the general population, and perceptions of internal and external corruption levels.) which will of course rank some country down, and some countries above others even if reality is different...

Regardless, I hope you all find sources of happiness wherever you are located

Anywhere can be happy and anywhere can be sad depending on you! You can live a poor country and be happy or live in a rich country and be miserable.

These statistics are nonsense and about as useful or consequential as debating which country has the ugliest or smartest people.

I always wonder WHO they talk to in order to get the results for this poll. With the amount of complaining about everything in the Netherlands, you'd wonder if anyone is really ever happy here.

And while we're in the top 20 of antidepressant usage, you're probably looking at a good 2 year wait to get any right now. Probably why we're fairly low in the top 20.

That can’t be right.

We are perfectly miserable here in Finland.
Exactly what went trough my mind. Some of the most depressed people I know in my life are from Finland and Sweeden.
